AIRLINE TICKETS

We do not live on the beaten path.....I need to find tickets for the girls to come home for Christmas. What companies do you all use for this? I've tried Cheaptickets.com and priceline.com. I can use airline miles and fly them to a major city 5 hours away - 40K miles per ticket....

Anyone have any other options you've used to find reasonable airline tickets....

  1. DeEtta,
When we were flying everyone to/from Gulfport, we used Expedia.

  3. We use Hotwire all the time or if Southwest flies there I try Southwest because they don't use any of the online travel services and many times they are the cheapest.

  5. Southwest advertises specials on their website. Unfortunately my parents have been trying to find a deal to fly my brother to Houston for Christmas and they have not been finding the good deals. Maybe there are deals to SA or dallas though.

  6. www.sidestep.com...just researching, never used them before and plugging in some random Dec dates (23-30) they came up w/$582/person Spo to SA, through Orbitz on combos of United/American/Alaska Air. If the girls could leave school as early as the 19th the price would drop to $479/person RT. The site redirected to Orbitz when I clicked OK. Probably doesn't include final airport fees, etc.

Also, there's a student travel website. Never used it and don't know if there would be any bargains there. They have special agreements w/over 100 airlines.

It shows who they're searching and then compares Kayak's rate to two others. When I searched they showed Orbitz and Cheaptickets.

  9. Wahoo!Yippee!Wonderful news that you're coming to AK in the summer! You've made my winter! I hope our paths will cross for a cuppa'tea...LOL!

OK...You want cheaper than cheap...Go Greyhound. I spent many years traveling Greyhound to and from Gram's in WA. I KNOW they have a hub in Spokane. I liked sitting near the front so I got a blast of fresh air whenever the door opened. Pack a quillo/pillow, snacks, music w/headphones and the adventure begins. :)!!

You can purchase tickets on line.
There is a $15.00 service fee for on-line purchase.
They have a military max rate that anyone w/military ID will not pay more than $198 RT.
    Regular price Spo-SA = $357/person
    Mil. Max price w/ID = $198/person
    Total mil max price for 2 = $396 (+$15 if purchased on-line...Don't know if they'd charge $15/ticket.)
    Trip time = ~2 days
    Buses run 7 days/week.
    Questions?: 1-800-231-2222
Forgot to ask if they charge a fee for phone ticket purchase.
Don't know if there's a cheaper than cheap option beyond Greyhound.

I love researching...Sun is shining...Shopped at the Scholastic Book Fair today...Kiddo's are home all day...GH is working on the kitchen cabinets and Y'all may be coming to AK again! What an awesome day of blessings!

Hope yours is just as great!!
