Tell me Quick...

I bought 10 Holiday Crackers on clearance after Christmas last year. "Each cracker contains a snap, ajoke, and a surprise novelty."

Will one of my English friends please tell me the proper day to use these? I'm not sure we'll hit it right, but I'd like to try. It's one of our gifts in the Advent countdown.

Still working to get it all together by tomorrow...but will post photos soon. What fun we are having!

We use ours on Christmas day. Usually on the breakfast plate.

Mmm...well, they SHOULD each contain a paper hat too! LOL!

They are pulled at the main Christmas meal on Christmas Day. This is normally a very late lunch, about 2.00 or 3.00 in the afternoon. Just after everyone sits down to eat the fest, the crackers are pulled across the table (one person on each end of the thing, careful little ones don't hold it too close to the 'snap' and get a gunpowder burn!) and the contents spill out over the table and onto the floor, of course! {g} The hat is donned immediately and stays on for the course of the meal. The very bad jokes written on tiny pieces of paper are shared and groaned over and the little novelty/toy is played with during the meal.

That's how it's done here. I can't imagine it being interesting enough to do outside of the hat-wearing meal thing, but go ahead and start a new tradition in Texas!

Hmmm....I think Mike has them as the gift for TODAY....I'd best figure that one out. LOL Maybe they can find them but not use them until the 25th. ::snort::

Thanks, Jen and Dorothy.

You need to do them right at your dinner table before you eat Christmas dinner! The real fun is in wearing the silly hat for the rest of the day.
