First we made signs....
If you're not sure what the sign below refers to - click here.
Nolan's sign says, "I'm not the Government's ATM".....and there are other photos of the younger ones signs...
About a week ago they announced this TEA party....then a few days ago they announced a "Support the President Rally" at the same time and place. I wondered about going but the older boys really wanted to go. I suspected I'd be taking the kids alone due to Mike's work schedule. I thought there would be more supporters than tea party goers....but wow! There were 25 Obama/Biden supporters when I counted....I'm not sure how many for the TEA party but the lawn was full of people.
Stacia will be in several folks' photo albums of the event....folks kept asking if they could take her photo. (The boys tell me that someone else thinks like me and their sign was on Hannity). ::snort::
Shew...this freedom of speech stuff is hard work.
It was beautiful weather. It was encouraging to see so many turn out. It was all fairly positive and uplifting...no President bashing...very nicely done. Stacia asked if we can go to a tea party again tomorrow. LOL

Your first? Really?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Great thing to model to the kids! Active participation in the political process. It's not just all about voting once every 4 years.{g}
Oh-oh, just realised that you've enabled the word thing. That means my other comments today won't have gone through because I didn't notice. Oh well!
Our family was all set to go to the one in downtown Philadelphia but our 4 year old was sick. We were really, really bummed out. The rainy cold weather didn't help! Hannity did have the piggy bank sign on his show. He loved it and so did Newt Gingrich.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Laura J.

ReplyDeleteNot sure why my comment showed up 2 times, I deleted one of them. lol
ReplyDeleteDorothy - what word thing? I haven't changed a thing.
ReplyDeleteLet me think - first demonstration? Yes. Not first political rally. Not first political involvement...but there havne't been a lot of conservative demonstrations where we've lived.....also I had to build confidence as many military members are reluctant to attend many types of these gatherings due to something or other....and so when something that seemed "safe" popped up for me to take the children to - we went. LOL
Laura - did you have to input a word to leave a comment?
ReplyDeleteThere was a huge turnout in Albany (state capital)and I was kicking myself for not taking the kids. I was just panicking over trying to park our huge van in a city that is already a nightmare under normal circumstances...I'm such a wimp when it comes to parking "frosty".
ReplyDeleteWhat a great experience for the children.
PS-I did not have to do a word thing.
Good work, love the signs!
ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon your blog while looking for others' feedback on yesterday's Tea Party. Great blog! :) I'm another Air Force wife here in San Angelo, and mommy to 4 kids. I took only my oldest with me to the Tea Party (she's 10), but we had a great time. I had never been to a political protest before, so I wasn't really sure what to expect.
ReplyDeleteGlad you stumbled in and left a comment, Susie.
ReplyDeleteWe had two rallies here as well. We didn't go because we had other things scheduled,b ut I heard it was a good turn out despite the rainy/snowy/cold weather.
