I'm going to have to leave my cell phone in a few weeks....and I won't be able to text and call the kids for a chat anytime I want....that saddens me. I AM looking into Skype and simple computer webcams/phones. BUT I know the kids won't use that option as often as they've texted. ::snort:: Not EVERYONE takes a laptop everywhere they go.
Look what the kids SURPRISED me with (STAY with ME - it will all tie together eventually). They've been saving and planning it for months. Deja knew. Mike knew. I didn't. After family photos we went to DQ, to give Heather time to download the photos she wanted from our camera, and they surprised me.
I made approrpiate laugh, snort, squealing sounds.
I sobered...
I love this ring. Why? They thought of it all by themselves. They bought me a ring about 12 years ago. I loved it...but I've had 3 more children since then and don't wear it often. I did a healthy amount of hinting and Mike supplemented their incomes to buy that first ring.THIS is something they thought of all on their own. They got me a ring with 12 stones in it. 3 of them are December birthstones....they seperate the repeated June/February birthdays and make for a nice look.....the Dec stones can be removed and replaced by future birthstones if needed (don't you love the thoughtfulness?). The setting is swirly - which I love. They all pitched in....even the youngers with birthday money (sniff) and such....I'm humbled and thankful. AND (tying it together)I now have something again to touch, caress and finger when I'm missing a child..... frankly...that's been a lot lately as I think of the goodbyes coming up.

ReplyDeleteHow precious and thoughtful and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteEverytime I open your blog I ball my eyes out. I know that is not your intention, but I'm such a sentimental sap. My, my what a journey.
I am enjoying this adventure with you very much, but I think I'm going to be emotionally ready for you to be settled...my heart is growing, expanding, aching and who all knows what.
You and your family are terrific!
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. James 1:17
ReplyDeleteI'm crying w/happiness reading/seeing your reception of their love gift.
We have something like a vonage phone. It's not that brand name but it is similar. Very reasonable, and we chose an area code near my family. They can call me for free when the internet is working. (same area code) I can call them for only a few cents per minute. I can call other area codes in the U.S. for only a few cents per minute. i think it costs us around $6 a month? It's very reasonable! You would have to choose between Tx or Oregon area code, but it would still be worth it.
ReplyDeleteyep. bawling. You have such wonderful chidren! A great testament to you and Mike...
ReplyDeleteThat is SO SWEET! I couldn't help but cry myself!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely need SKYPE! We've been talking to our exchange student from Germany a couple of times a week now that we've been reconnected with her. Granted, you are tired to the computer, but I've found out that I can get a lot of filing and other low thought tasks done while sitting at the computer "skyping" with her. WE don't have the video cam and I've heard it's harder to get a great connection with the videocam, but it's WONDERFUL to hear her voice and talk for HOURS without costing a dime.
I hear you though about missing the spontaneity of texting, but at least you can schedule a time with them to hear their voice!
Oh, De'Etta, your post made ME cry! What a sweet thing for them to do. Praying for your move.
