Our scenery changed over night!
This is our street.
I've seen figures of 125in - 154 in as "average snowfall" in Misawa...and we've been below average this year. THIS is what I imagined when told there would be a "long winter and lots of snow." THIS is like Alaska.
We made the
Stars and Stripes today. We had 14 inches overnight and it continued to snow all day long. Other parts of Japan are being clobbered. Our neighbor works on the flight line and said they are predicting a blizzard for Thursday and Friday. I can't find that elsewhere on line. It will be fun to see what happens.
Yesterday, we shoveled all the snow from the back yard and moved it to the Igloo building site via kayak...take a look at it today. Jamin's starting a trench here.
We now have a much BIGGER Igloo (big boys can sit in it now), with a snow slide behind it.
Go Benji!
We also have a fortified wall at the corner of the yard.
We all had fun in the snow today. I am glad that Mike was on leave today. He's due back in the office tomorrow. He, Jared, most our kids and various Stephey kids dug out the farmer's wife behind us. The snowplow simply left a HUGE mountain in her road. They were very thankful....yes, connections being made. Mike and Jared also shoveled the drives of a few neighbors. We are praying for some good things from this storm.
I have some cool photos of the boys and Mike playing at being Winter Warriors. I want to find the photo that was on the front of the Stars and Stripes before I post their photos. You'll need context, but it will be worth the wait, I promise. ::snort::
