Oh my WORD - caught in the ACT..... (yes, we eat raw dough and don't remind me about the egg - I choose to deny that inconvenient fact - froze a few balls for cookie dough ice cream next time I make ice cream)
And what is that suspicious bulge in his cheek???? ::snort::
Are there any other homes in America where a sentry must be posted to guard the cookie dough?
After lunch the boys played PLAY STATION - a treat around here. It was unexpected and they were happy.
Stacia took a nap. Arielle and I met Mandy at the theater to watch No Reservations. We really liked this movie. I LOVED the behind the lobby chef scenes. It had romance (but only two kissing scenes and well OK I don't want the censors to grab me again), it has humor, and the monopoly scene between Kate and Zoe reminded Arielle and I of monopoly games with BreAnne. I suppose technically this is a Chick Flick....which is why I made a date with a friend to go alone. My crew really isn't into chick flicks and so I did without for over 20 years...then I discovered I could go to a movie ALONE. ::snort:: I do think that my Uncle or Jamin or any male who is interested in cooking would enjoy parts of this movie.....probably.
The older two young men are working again tonight. Jared has Civil Air Patrol again. We met Mike for dinner (I'm getting SICK of BK Tendergrill salads). At BK Zander was excited to be given a crown.....see the quote of the day! ::snort:: Michael will stay at work until 9:30 and bring Jared home. The older boys will be home after 10:00....the youngers are playing a bit more play station. I need to write a newsletter for tomorrow and set up tables for co-op. I also hope to do some blog reading and possibly more of Key Lime Pie Murder....
Stacia's camo hat doesn't really show up in sepia.....
Sounds like a great day, De'Etta. :) We have a few kids at our house who really like to eat cookie dough too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you liked the movie No Reservations. My girls and I liked the picnic scene as well as the monopoloy scene.
I've been having a play week also.LOL We just had two intense days of fun with our best friends from Miami. Fun, fun, fun!
ReplyDeleteIn our house it's dh who does without the Guy flicks unless he finds another male to go. I refuse to go to them. Well, unless it's Star Wars or something. He does go to a few Chick Flicks with me, like No Reservations.
ReplyDeleteI did like that any immoral stuff was just suggested and not seen!
I am thinking I may have to get my book club gals together and go see Becoming Jane (Austen). Don't think dh will do that one! I also want to go see the Robin Williams, Freddie Highmore movie that they previewed at No Reservations. Might be able to talk dh into that one!
I'm more of an action movie buff, but Bri and I both like good chick-fliks and now Bess is old enough to enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteGreat day of indoor activities. The cookies look yummy!
What a great day! I love the picture of Arielle guarding the cookie dough and reading a book!
ReplyDeleteI loved Key Lime Pie murder....oops...there goes that M word again ::snort::
We're home from the lake. I'll update my blog sometime tomorrow. We're doing good with the pox. I'm expecting Isaac to get it in a week or so.
Oh yes...the picnic scene is a familiar one around here too.
ReplyDeleteKelly - poor Isaac living in dread of the pox. Ah - that m word....
ReplyDeleteJen - I need to remember Becoming Jane...what Robin Williams movie? I don't think we saw the same previews....
ReplyDeleteDebbie - they were yummy and I have no idea how many calories they are...maybe 100?
ReplyDeleteHey. I'm reading Key Lime right now, too!
ReplyDeleteWe like the Ghiradelli (sp?) chocolate chips if that makes any difference.
Sounds like a fun day to me!
The cookies look so yummy and I LOVE those pics you took in sepia. The lighting is just right in them!
ReplyDeleteJen in Az
Sounds like a lovely relaxed summer day.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the sunburn though.
We had some unexpected sunshine the other day. It has been so long since we had any, I forgot to get Grace to 'cream up' with sunscreen. She is peeling now and freaking out a bit. {g}
You're supposed to TELL which choc chips were the best.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking milk chocolate for right-out-of-the-sack-skip-the-cookies-snacking and the semi-sweet for the cookies. That's the American Way, isn't it?
Your cookie story is a riot--and I almost spit when I saw the pic of Stacia after eating Dad's chocolate chips!
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing Arielle is to give you a daughter right now that you can do things with . . . and when she's out of the house, you'll have Stacia . . .
The Robin Williams movie is called "August Rush". http://augustrushmovie.warnerbros.com/
ReplyDeleteIt's about a musical prodigy whos parents had to give him up at birth and they are all trying to find each other again.
Liz - I'm reaching your same conclusion.... Depending on what Mike thinks - the children chose the Ghiradelli Milk chocolate....I loved the Guittard Semi- Sweet or Dark.....
ReplyDeleteI used both.....
Cindy - I like this book better than the last one. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen. I was surprised and pleased...Mike thought I'd figured out the new camera setting but it's the OLD one - and ARIELLE figured it out. I should let her plan with the new cannon.
ReplyDeleteDorothy - I burned worse than the kids....at least that is some consolation - I did lather them up at the pool - forgot the park. I forgot about all but my nose all week. LOL
ReplyDeleteJen - August Rush - I DID see that....and I'd like to see it too...and there was one with Robin Williams as a priest between a couple - I have no CLUE what that ones about.
ReplyDeleteKristine - so right you are.
ReplyDeleteWant to wear a crown too.LOL I love all chocolate and would probably do as you did and use a little of them all.LOL Those cookies look really good.
ReplyDeleteWe've been playing here too. I guess we're doing this challenge even without a graphic!*gasp!*LOL
We also prefer Ghiradelli, but America's Test Kitchen rated the Guittard best.
ReplyDeleteOh, and here with my OAMC cooking, I always make a batch of Monster Cookies. I freeze aprox. 200 dough balls to make later. However... many of them fall victim to the sweet tooth of my husband! Yummy!
We too need a sentry for cookie dough. One small blob of dough each and the rest gets made into cookies, that's my rule. LOL
ReplyDeleteDouble the chocolate sounds like the ideal compromise.
I love the pictures of cookies. Made my afternoon...and spurred me into making the pound cake I have been dreaming of...
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly is rapadura and how is it better/different than organic sugar cane?
Lisa - I didn't use a "little" of both - I used the entire bag of both and it was ALMOST enough chocolate.
ReplyDeleteKaren - I like to FREEZE the dough so we can quickly make cookies whenever the NEED arises...but the littles like to EAT them as fast as I form the cookie balls. ::snort::
ReplyDeleteI like both but thought the Guittard was deeper, richer, more intense....the family chose Ghiradellis.....
Jodi - I feel much better. Thanks for admitting/ er sharing your need for a sentry as well....now is it the children or YOU who eat the dough....
ReplyDeleteStephanie,
ReplyDeleteRaparua is a less refined, organic sugar. It's got the same ingredient as Sucanat/organic sugar.... the selling point for me is that it was cheaper and I like the way it works in cakes and cookies better than honey. LOL
I am just catching up on blogs, but what a fun day!
ReplyDeleteI took Jenna and two friends out for sushi and to see No Reservations for her 16th birthday and we LOVED that movie. We had rented the original (Mostly Martha) a few years ago and really liked it, but it was subtitled and, although, that is fine, it took more effort to watch.
BTW, we are Guittard fans here as well. Ghirardelli chips are good too, but Guittard are my favorite.
LOL I just realized that I was signed on as "Church Punk" three days ago. That is my dd's blog name. I'm sure you were wondering who that was.LOLOL
ReplyDeleteI have to remember that you are a serious chocolate lover and that the word "little" never belongs in a sentence with "Chocolate".LOLOL
