Big Day For Jamin

They tried to talk him into waiting until he was 18 so he could have a "regular license," but he wouldn't have it. I finally got it all together to get down to the DPS (DMV). Jamin was thrilled to get his license....can you believe there is NO driving skills test in the state of TX. Well, they have it, but parents can waive it. AND it only cost $5 to get his license???? Amazing.

Jared says, "I can't read ANY of these instructions!" Then we realize it's all in Spanish.

Finally....

Congrats, Jamin.

When he was having his photo taken we realized that he is NOT 5'11" - he's 6'2"....and so is Jared. ::snort:: Yes, we DID have a great time at the DMV and we DID have the whole place laughing by the time we left with our fun observations.

  1. Yes, when we were talking about Jared the other day for some CAP-associated reason I guess, Landon said, "He's just SO tall!" :) That's what happens when you have "short" genes!

  2. Wait. Did I get this right?

In Texas, you can walk into the DMV and - for FIVE DOLLARS - get a drivers license, without a test?

  5. They do NOT make a teenager get in the car and show that they can operate a vehicle??? They just give anyone with $5 a license??? Yikes, I think I'm staying away from TX

  6. Um, congrats? ;-) I'm sure you all taught Jamin how to drive well. I remember the excitment of getting my license. At that time you could get it at 15 which I did. Now I think that's nuts! LOL Of course, my 12 year old son keeps reminding me in just a few years HE can have one! Yikes!

  8. I have to say that I'm still baffled by someone not needing to take a driving test EVEN IF they have taken a course.... there are some parents out there who wouldn't care enough to make sure their child can really drive.... not any homeschooling, church going parents, but I'm sure there are some out there.... since when would gov't not want to get all the $$ they can (LOL)...

  10. Congratulations! Wow that's a big occasion, perhaps even slightly better than using a Princess toothbrush. VBG
