Exploding Grain Mills
I offer these photos as proof that I don't ALWAYS exaggerate when telling stories. ::snort:: When I say the grinder exploded - it did.
Getting flour out of cracks in a wood floor is tough! After quite a bit of work we now have 2 loaves of bread, 2 1/2 dozen of dinner rolls and a couple of dozen yummy Cinnamon Rolls. I used the Seven Grain Bread recipe that you can find by clicking recipe above and scrolling.
What we do not have is a great start on school! ::snort:: PS....not to fear, the boys had their table school done and we got all needed to accomplish in an hour of couch school. We're still on track.

ReplyDeleteSo, what happened? Too much flour in the canister and the pressure caused the lid to fly off? Not that I have ANY idea how that could actually take place...
ReplyDeletethat is what it looks like every time I use the grinder.
ReplyDeleteIf it makes you feel better, cleaning up after a flour explosion can't possibly be as bad as cleaning the bean mush that was all over my college kitchen when the rubber gasket on my pressure cooker blew out my freshman year. My old roomates still haven't let me forget that!

The grinder seems to be working, I dug out the packed flour with a ramen chopstick. Useful things.
ReplyDeleteDeja....I had ground 8 cups of grain. I thought, "I can do 2 more cups"....but it's not about the space in the cannister evidently....yes, the lid blew off, but also the flour was packed all the way up the tube and into the metal parts that I could see.
So....I upended it to get the grain out as I could see it was going to quit working and didn't want grain stuck in it....which caused it to smoke and pop....
the reset button (on the bottom) didn't work immediately...but after digging it all out with the chopstick - it came on and I could blow it out.....
Yes, this was easier than bean mush to clean up. LOL
