11 - A candle light dinner has NOTHING to do with romance
9 - Puzzles, games and reading replace wii, movies and cyber surfing
8 - You’re grilling in 6 inches of snow
7 - The kids ask, “Which load of laundry are we on today?”
6 - The honey and butter are solid on your counter
5 - You can see your breath when you step out of the living room
4 - Everyone stands around the stove while you’re cooking dinner
3 – Solar Lanterns become your living room light and glow sticks become your night lights
2 - You can’t resist putting your hands in the oven when you take out the weekly bread baking
And the number one way you know you’re conserving energy?
1 - It takes nerves of steel to sit your bum on the toilet seat

Sis: :):):) good ones. At least in the Philippines we had electricity at nights up to a certain hour. Later years it got great. We also had generator power when really needed in the early years. :):):) HOWEVER we were NEVER real COLD! :):):) love/prayers - Mom T.
Great list. I had to LOL a bit at #1 - been there & done that. Brrrr!!!! Continuing to pray for you all there.
LOL Mom - yeah - never real cold in the Philippines....but you had more brown outs than we do....we just have to conserve so the limited energy can be used across the country.
::grin:: Lisa.
So you have those little solar lights and glow sticks...I was going to email and ask if USPS was going through so I could send you some. We have those handy for power outages as well. If you can get your hands on military-issue glow sticks, they are MUCH brighter than $ store ones.
I'm praying for your spirits. Going without regular comforts for an extended period of time is stressful. Especially for kids. I think winter is a difficult time to learn to go without heat and electricity. Not that you have a choice, but it's something to pray for you as you adjust to a new way of living...and keeping warm.
We're experiencing a few of those here ourself (LOL)... big difference though....
