I got a call that our beef was ready to pick up.
We got 4 bags like this - a total of 338 lbs. It came to $2.41 a lb for NO anitbiotic/NO growth hormone beef (EXTRA lean hamburger).
The freezer had plenty of room..but is nicely full now. I think I could do a whole cow next time. The funny thing is that we've never even had a lot of the types of steak we now have in abundance. LOL The second basket is full of ground turkey.
We got home with just enough time to put the beef in the freezer and for me to head to Bible Study. We grew again....we're having fun.
I closed out our United Natural Foods order after Bible Study.

De'Etta - I'm so intrigued by all of this. I can't wait to hear how you use the beef and whether you think (at the end of the year) if it was a good fit for your family.
I bought two big boxes of beef from a company but I think mine ended up being much more expensive than this. How did you decide from whom to buy? Where did you get the ground turkey?
Thanks for sharing! These kinds of posts (the nitty gritty of life) really help!! :)
And now pray there's no power outtage!{g}
It feels great to have a well-stocked freezer. Frost free too!!! I can dream...
Want to come organize my freezer? It certainly doesn't look like that! I can't wait to hear how you like having all that beef so easily at hand!
We have almost gone through our 1/8 of a cow! They don't slaughter again till April! We will definitely be buying a bigger portion this time!!!
Jennifer - it helps that it was a new freezer waiting to be filled and all the meat came at ONE time so I could organize it. I like that. :;snort::
Sis:
