Civil Air Patrol Promotion & Award Dinner

Nearly a year and a half ago Jared joined CAP. At the Award Banquet last year we thought he might pass out when he had to march up, salute and accept his promotion to Sr. Airman. He set the goal of being promoted to SMsgt by the next Award Dinner.

Tonight he handled the walk and salute with ease.

Jared was promoted to Sr. Master Sgt...

Then he was surprised to be named Cadet of the Year.

Way to go, Jared. We're proud of you, son.

They also gave Mike a plaque for filling in for their chaplain while he was deployed.

I only had to leave the room twice due to coughing fits!

Jared: WOW! Congrats!!! Big promotion AND Cadet of the year! Way to go! One of the kids in our special needs unit at school had to write during warm-ups today about the best advice ever received by him....His dad told him once that once he had decided he wants something to go for it and not look back until he reaches his goal. GOOD going. Now on to the next goal.

love you so much, very proud of you, and praying for you daily.
(Way to go Mike/DeEtta!)

Congrats to Jared! Our awards night is this Tuesday. (I'm bummed that it is on my birthday. Having a Dec. bday, this always happens to me! ) Landon will be awarded his Armstrong which is the step between CMSgt and 2nd Lt. He had to write an essay and give a speech from the essay and pass the PT. Landon says to tell Jared, "Good job on the Cadet of the Year!"

Julie - it's awful. I hate taking meds but have started at night to let the family sleep a bit.....but tomorrow I'm going to have to look for one that works a bit better.....the honey lemon doesn't touch the night time cough...the stuff I have is NASTY - no flavors to cover the med. LOL
