Seaweed Fight?

Did I mention a seaweed fight at Lake O's beach? Yep...here's Arielle getting clobbered by, I THINK, Jared.

We ran into Connie B and kids....a fellow chaplain's family. It was fun to visit....

After the swimming we drove on up to the Towers on the North Side to scope out what may be our future home. We learned a few things...there is only one Officer Tower on the North Side...they are all Pet Towers.....and the Internet is better now than it was last year.

Y100 Sushi

Renee showed me a "fast food" Sushi spot yesterday. Most dishes are just Y100. Mel calls these Sushi Go Rounds. Alas, the only photo I got of Renee is not a good one....I'll have to try again...be forewarned.... ::snort::

Each table has it's own hot water "faucet" for Green Tea - which is free.
Photobucket
You CAN order special items you may want. The monitor is at your table, you punch it in and get this frame...which I thought was cute. Can you read it? "It's on process, Thank you very much for your order." I smile at the grammar mistakes and KNOW they smile at mine as well.
Photobucket

This photo shows the sushi going around...on the conveyer belt. You grab the plates of things off that you'd like to try. Notice the little bullet train on the top shelf? That is how the items you ordered from the monitor show up. Too cute.
Photobucket

These are the things I snagged....left a corn roll, middle eel, right octopus.
Photobucket
Then I saved room for some wonderfully rich and dark Chocolate mousse like dessert.
When you ask for your ticket, they add up the plates on your table and give you a tab. It was great fun. I still don't have the hang of the chopsticks.

Shopping!

I mentioned yesterday how sweet Renee B was to take me off base to shop for Stacia's birthday. Here are a "few" photos from that outing....Um....I found a new computer room with working wifi...I think it's an Airman's Dorm...but billetting told me about it. ::snort::

Three things to note from this photo.....ONE in a country where most stereotypically expect to find short people (read that sentence again), the shelves and storage cupboards etc are INCREDIBLY high - up to the ceiling in fact. I think that is because space is at a premium and all space is used. TWO...note the cool little pole that Renee pointed out to Nolan to reach the top dress. THREE....we are not going to have trouble finding Stacia dresses here. She wears a 120 - 130 here - near as I can tell.
Photobucket
Ricky said this one was pretty. I agree and think Stacia will too. Ricky is a doll..and is Renee's son.

The 100 Yen Store

No, I didn't buy Stacia Pretz for her birthday, but we did enjoy finding new flavors. ::snort::Photobucket

One new thing here is that the cashiers ring up your items, then hand them all back to you with a bag, and you go to a counter and bag them yourself. Photobucket

We found all the gifts we needed for Stacia at these three stores. I even found a fun new party hat since the Pig Hat won't be unpacked until we have a home...it IS in our unaccompanied....at least it wasn't in the suitcases and stolen.
Thanks again, Renee.

Adoption, Door Thefts and Funny Signs

A couple of Mommy Stories that I need to write down before I forget in the adventure of living in Japan.

These two bless me daily....what a joy to have young children in your mid-40's.
Photobucket

There has been lots of opportunities to "Sing in the Rain" around here....in fact Zander sang the song over and over and over the day we flew to Tokyo. ::snort::

Zander soundly told me this a.m. "I won't live in a house with a woman who eats squid and octopus!" He refused to be calmed down and proceeded to tell me that Miss Annette (Wing Chaplain's Wife) would most likely adopt him. ::snort::

Stacia ran around the van tonight.....to the right side.....got the most amusing perplexed look on her face when the door to the van wasn't there.....and said, "Someone took our van door!" ::snort::

THIS gets to be in the Mommy Story post because a son found it in the men's bathroom and then went BACK to take a photo for me. Ah, I love having youth.
Photobucket
Did you check out the drawings that go with the words? I love the skinny little "zip up" man. ::snort::
