Swan Park

Yesterday afternoon we decided we needed an adventure. We found Swan Park 2 miles from our home. We also stopped by the Farmer's Market. I was frustrated as I tried to say things that I couldn't say in Japanese....but when we left Jared commented that I had handled the entire conversation...from "Dozo, Dozo" to "Nan desu ka" etc in Japanese. Cool. I guess the motto is to say less. ::snort::

Quick photos as I really need to check one more online business thing and get out of here.

Kim, would you not believe how often one of the kids (or Mike and I) will say, "Take a photo, let's ask Miss Kim or Mr Ryu what that means!" LOL

2 - 5 October - Moving Days....2 and beyond

Friday the rest of our household goods arrived. We'd left things that we wished we'd brought....and there are a few things that I'm taking to the thrift store. All in all we did well with the info we had. If we'd moved into base housing, we wouldn't want any of the things we left. ::snort::

We have spent the past few days unpacking, organizing, shopping for shelves, furniture pads etc.....and we're not done. The curtains are all different here, so none of ours worked. All bedrooms now have curtains. LOL I can't find bookshelves here....but I'll keep looking.

We have stuff all over the edges of rooms as we haven't hung anything yet. Mike wants to hang things as all the walls are wall papered over plywood and we are being careful not to leave more holes than needed. ::ahem::

Go figure - very excited over the silverware!

LOOK - all the way from TX....now if Chick Fil A would only start a store here. CY....tell Tim O that McDonald's in our small town is the biggest money maker in Northern Japan because the Americans are hungry for "home". I know Chick Fil A could do a rip roaring business here. LOL

A visual - THIS is how many days we were on the road....from 10 May to 3 Oct.

Well...the typhoon isn't going away. I'm going to go shopping and head home.....I've paid bills, weeded out the in box and blogged.....but NO ONE was on skype.

1 Oct - Moving Day 1

We camped out Wed night. Thursday a.m. our "hold" baggage arrived. Our school books, linens...things we wanted as we waited for our shipment to arrive. The wait is usually longer but both our shipments have been waiting since July. LOL
Dad, we tooka video of this for you. The kids thought it was cool. The side is on some sort of motor and lifts up.....then the bottom part folds down and there is your load.

I found this carpet on a yard sale site. We're turning our garage into a playroom/workout room.

The boys were excited that I'd snuck their dinosaurs into the hold baggage.

The new bowflex works.

Jared made Stacia a castle from the boxes the first night.

We enjoyed the solitude of the neighborhood and playing sorry.

We have crickets, stars....trees outside our bedroom window...nice. It will get noisier as folks move in....but that's fine too.

30 Sept - Leaving TLF

Photobucket
After eleven and a half weeks in TLF, Mike was glad to be leaving.....
Photobucket
As were the rest of us. ::snort::

We arrived at the house late...after running around to get yen to pay rent, buying a few groceries and essentials.

Stacia promptly claimed this closet under the stairs....

First Typhoon

I had a breakfast this a.m. FUN.

Now, I'm sitting outside the library, in a TYPHOON, waiting for the library to open so I can try to skype someone...or check email. ::snort:: Seriously, we miss having Internet contact with family and friends. The commissary and BX (my next stops) aren't open yet....so I'll sit here in the parking lot and see if I can check email. LOL
