OPINIONS
OK - got music going.
Does it make it slow for your computers to load the blog? Too slow?
I like jazz....
Stacia really likes it...::snort:: but I told Bre it certainly makes you feel like you need to get on, read, read, read, FAST, comment fast and get off!!!!!! Speed being the main drive I feel with the music going in the background of the blog. Bre mentioned something about panic attacks.
Does it have this affect on ya'll? I wanted it to be upbeat and reflect joy and my tastes...but this may be a bit too upbeat??? ::snort:: It doesn't seem relaxing...but I wanted instruments and not words (I'm easily distracted) and I didn't want "elevator music".
Bottom line - you CAN turn the volume down (I do that many spots online)...but what about the speed of loading the site? Is it causing your browser to freeze?
Let me know....please...and any suggestions for a new song are welcome. I realized my favorites are all Christian contemporary and they aren't listed at sonific. LOL

You can turn the volume down by editing it in sonific to whatever number between 0 and 100.

It didn't have any affect on how quickly it brought your blog up. I am fine with the music, and when you go to make a comment, you don't hear it anyway. Also, if someone is bothered by it, they can simply click the pause button on the music element, thus eliminating the "Need for Speed."
I like the music...love jazz, but with my dialup, it doesn't plan steady...has to put some in the buffer, stop and then go again!
What about soundtrack music? John Williams is good (except for the theme song to Jaws, LOL) It's instrumental but not elevator music. I usually keep the volume down if I don't care for the music.
I hear no music from you blog. Checked and my speakers/volume are working. (I normally keep it muted.)
I didn't hear the music the first time, it seemed to take a while to load. I'm not a fan of music--I will often read blogs/sites late at night, and they seem loud. I exit the page as fast as I can, because of course, I can't figure out how to adjust the volume without much pushing of buttons and lots of luck!
Thanks to Heather, I did look for and find where I can adjust the volume on the blog!!
:)
I like the music. It took a few seconds to realize what you were talking about. I always surf the net with the speakers off. I didn't notice any different in time to load the page. I like the jazz.

::snort:: Thanks, Heather for the tip. Kelly, I also surf with my speakers off. I nearly blew myself out of the chair right now as i'm on another child computer.....and they have been doing ipod/itune stuff. ::snort::
Debbie - if you turn the music off does the page and such load o.k. for you or does the music make it slow and a pain regardless.
In other words - I realize you can turn the music off - but will it still make the page slow for you????
Darshia - I have no idea why you dont' hear music....hmmm....
It doesn't seem to make the page load any slower. I usually keep the speakers down anyway.
Whoa! I just jumped in my seat. Now it loaded just fine! LOL Of course, I did feel like I needed to read really fast...like I was being rushed along. {grin} I want music...I'm going to have to research this a bit. ~Yvonne
nice, no problems for me. maybe I'll have to check it out for my blog.
::snort:: Yvonne! It does the same to us....I'm going to have to find some peppy jazz that is a bit slower....because it does make it hard to RELAX and read. LOL BUT then again - I suppose I'm doing my part to help ya'll conserve time.
Thanks, Debbie. I appreciate the input. I wanted to be sure that it didn't slow things way down for those with dial up - like my in laws.
AAACCKKKKK!!!!! Suddenly there was blaring music on my computer. Who knew the volume was up so high??? I muted it until I figured out where it was coming from. My children came running in to see what was up! LOL! Once I figured it out I lowered the volume and really enjoyed the music. I love jazz!
I obviously had no problem loading the blog. It all came up just fine with no delays.
I just wasn't expecting it and it gave us all a good laugh. Now, I will know to check my volume first! LOL
That reminds me I need to go change the music on my blog. I suppose I could work on that and a few sidebar things since I still can't upload any pictures. The jazz is way too fast for me to read and listen at the same time, but I can easily just turn it off or down. The music hiccuped up a few times while loading, but it didn't seem to slow down the overall blog loading time for me... only seemed to affect the music loading. HTH
LOL the Jazz IS fast for reading but is wonderful for viewing pictures....LOL
OK - I CHANGED THE MUSIC - I think it's bordering on elevator music....where's the Kenny G on this site...but at least it's possible to read now. LOL
OH - my other choice was bogey wogey bugle boy of company b - but I can't sing and type at the same time. LOL
DeEtta,
just me, I guess, but I really don't like music at blogs or any websites actually. I find it distracting and confusing and there are already plenty of competing distractions in my home when I'm trying to read.
Right now, there is the tv in the living room, Jamie has the radio on in the kitchen where he is washing dishes noisily (we have an open plan downstairs) and Jack is playing electric guitar in his bedroom. So music from your blog was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
I've not yet figured out how to turn anything down.{g}
Sorry to be negative...
Dorothy
Dorothy - hit the pause button on the sonific thingy in the side bar and the music goes away OR turn your speakers off (which is how I surf). LOL We have 3 computers at one desk...you can imagine that we don't have speakers going on all 3.
I'm with you about distractions and this may not last long but I wanted to try it. I really like music with photos...but it's not great for reading. LOL
I'm with Dorothy on this one in preferring no music. I usually surf with music playing on my computer, and when I hit a blog or other website that automatically plays music, I hear both songs at once--not pretty. What I would really like: put the Sonific element at the top of the page so I can find the pause button fast without lots of scrolling.
Looks like it's not affecting most but it has made your blog load very slowly for me. When I click on "comment" it takes quite a while to end the page and go to the comment page. It's not making me crazy or anything but you asked.
No suggestions for what music you should choose but I thought you might get a kick out of this comment from my 8 yo. He is playing near the computer when the music comes up, he says "what is that horrible music"! Guess he has no taste for jazz, LOL.
