Pampered Chef - Kelly you asked....

*Mike, it may be best for your blood pressure to simply skip this entry. ::snort::

OK I have a history with PC. I love their products, but some of their products have not held up well to daily use in my home.

My theory is that I cook more than most and that I have a larger family than most. The consultant last night was not impressed with my theory. I've had the servers seperate from the handles, I've broken 2 of the hand held graters and I've had 3 of the choppers crack before giving up on those products. Mike asks me to find a professional store and buy professional quality stuff. I KNOW that PC gives lifetime warranties...but this is more hassle than I want to deal with if you are military and your consultant is military - both move - you can't find her again to turn it in - and sometimes receipts get lost in moves before the 5 years or lifetime warranty expire. LOL Las night's consultant (who has been the consultant at two of this month's parties) insists that SHE keeps lifetime records and is retired military and will not be moving. ::snort::

All that to say that I'm now careful to buy things that don't look like they can crack or wear out with lots of use.

This month I bought:
First Party:
~a 2nd pizza stone for Jamin - he couldn't get over using a rectangle stone for the 2nd pizza; just a tad bit persnickety in my book (pizza stone works great for cookies too - but they won't do it)

Second Party:
~a ceramic tiles tray that will be great for tea

~a spritzer bottle for olive oil (I currently use a spray bottle and it doesn't cover well....I don't like buying those oils in a pam can)

Third Party:
~can opener

~can strainer

~small mix & scaper

~small & large scoop (love my small one for cookies - need two so kids can work together)

~Measure all

~Crust Shield

I was VERY careful to choose things that looked like they would hold up....that spritzer is the only one I'm wondering about - I've had those break before on me too. LOL

Now - I want to buy the new knives. They look like they are good quality and will not fall apart with my household use. I've thought about this for YEARS (over 10)....and now they have NEW ones that the consultant SWEARS is better than the old ones. I didn't buy any because I wasn't sure.....I realize I only use a small knife, butcher knife and bread knife on a consistent basis....so maybe I don't need a SET - just those three and some steak knives....

Also - if I'm going to buy something that big it would be nice to have that 10% host discount....but I HATE having parties....it raises issues for me as a Pastor's wife....maybe a book party...but there again....ARGH....maybe I'll get invited to a few more parties....

I LOVE the new knives. I got the Tansoku?? knife 60% off from my party. You can get knives for free or 1/2 price if you have a party. So...if you decide that lol. Oh, if you get the new knives, you'll need a honing tool, which they also sell if you don't have one.

You picked good, sturdy products. I LOVE the serving tray. I bought the plain white one though. You don't need a consultant or receipts to return stuff if you call the PC home office, which is a hassle, but they will locate a receipt for you. Keep your receipts under your silverware tray in the drawer.

Hmm...I was going to say something else and now I forget lol. I'll be back if I remember.

This is from my GH Tracy to your DH Mike:

Mike, I think we should start a blog for husbands called,
"Widowers of Direct Marketing."

(This is in reference to monies spent on Pampered Chef, Longaberger, Creative Memories, etc. LOL)

Oh I know...the spritzer. If you wash it with warm soapy water every time you fill it, you'll have better luck. It also comes with 2 sprayers, one to use and one to wash. And you can replace those sprayers easily with a replacements parts form. You just fill it out and send it in and they send you a new one. Not that I'm thinking you'll need to do that, but just in case. Oh, and don't fill above the line. I usually put mine a little below the line. Overfilling can cause it to not work properly.

::snort::: Widowers of Direct Marketing.....:::hiccup::: how about "bankrupt via direct marketing"? LOL

Great Laugh - give Tracy my regards....

OK so Kelly - WHAT is the point of the round indentations on those knives? I saw that Wolfgang Puck has a set of these things at Sam's. WHY?

I'm dreaming of those knives...I just don't want to have a party...it raises all sorts of problems....at least it does in MY mind. I don't want anyone to feel that they MUST come because Mike's a supervisor...and I don't want any sort of strange feelings that would hurt ministry....and well...there you have it...its MY problem...but that's the way I think....LOL

I have had a few PC products not hold up as expected. There was the mini server that separated from the handle.... there was the soap dispenser that turned liq soap into lather....
but I've had good luck with the oil spritzer (although mine didn't come with two pumps,, hmmmm), the white rubber spatulas (they have always come clean), the stones of course.....

Renee - I had the same experience with the soap lather things....AND my mini-server and the biggest one both seperated from their handles..... but I LOVE the stones...and I'm really excited to get the little can strainer. LOL

I've heard only good about the knives...but those were the old ones...sure the new ones are good too...we'll see. I'm not sure sharp knives are really safe in this house. LOL

De'Etta, I'm not sure what the little lines on the new knife blades are.....

The old knives are wonderful. I love the self-sharpening cases. The new knives are awesome!!! VERY VERY VERY sharp. I've cut myself with it. Jordan said, "Well, it's finally a L**** knife, you've cut yourself with everything now." LOL. When I was selling PC, I cut myself numerous times a week.

The little can strainer is awesome. We are always using ours. All my mini spatulas have the handles come off. I think they should quit selling that particular item.

SHEW - I'm glad you shared that. I LOVE the mini-server and almost got another one - I'm glad I didn't.

The things they have that are good are great.

The divets on those knives are to prevent sticking. I got some from Costco that were "Napastyle" brand for my birthday and I really like them. They had very comfortable handles.

Jamin will need to come visit us when we get our house done. He can help me figure out how to best cook in the new wood-burning pizza oven. LOL

LOL Jamin has become quite the pizza chef...Chef actually is a good term. He's loving Culinary Arts too. I have to sometimes remind him that I DO KNOW what I'm doing in the kitchen. LOL

I'm a bit worried about sharp knives...I wasn't until the boys had looks of horror and comments when hearing that I'd decided to buy real knives.....but now whenever I'm chopping they make me stop talking. ::snort::
