TICKERS
Mandy and I discussed my ongoing challenge to loose weight. She asked me, "What are we going to do about it?" I know I need to work out to loose weight - or forget the weight - feel great. It's cold in the AM for bike rides and I'm not motivated...but I can't whine away the rest of the winter. I need to suck it up - get the bike riding done - so that I can purcahse the elliptical machine. Jamin cleaned the garage out so there's a spot for it weeks ago. ::snort:: I think the boys are looking forward to it as much as I. I thought of joining Curves...but I know I need to accomplish THIS goal.
I can't MAKE the weight ticker move. I CAN make the exercise ticker move. That's what I'll focus on. I will try to get the rest of my miles in before Christmas and be done with it. LOL And I noticed before that as I focused on the ticker I could move, the second began to inch downward ever so slowly. LOL
I can still dream of being 20 when I lost all pregnancy weight in less than two weeks...but I'd best work with what I have in my 40's..... ::snort::
BTW it is time NOW to begin research on a good home elliptical machine. Ideas? Opinions? One's you love or ones you've hated? I can't pay for gym quality but I don't want it to shake, rattle and roll when I use it - that's MY job. ::snort::

That's a great goal! I really don't know anything about machines BUT I can tell you that the best time to buy something like this is in January. That's when they put all this stuff on sale.
I think focusing on your physical fitness is a good idea. The weight should improve with your improved fitness and you'll feel better.
No help on the machine.
DeEtta,
Thanks for the great perspective. I've been thinking about adding a weight loss ticker to my blog, but honestly, I didn't want the world to see that I'm making very little progress. Now you've given me new inspiration! I CAN make the ticker move in regard to hours walked, miles biked, etc. Thanks for the tip! Now to find a ticker (LOL)!
I do have to giggle, De'Etta, at your choice of words--loose instead of lose. I picture you letting loose of some serious pounds and setting them free. Ha!
A friend of mine who had her 3rd baby at age 40 got back into amazing shape by combining a morning elliptical workout (between 30 and 45 minutes) with a basic South Beach diet. I've been stunned at how quickly the pounds have melted off. She looks fabulous. Their machine is a refurbished, good quality one (more than we could afford) that cost them around $800. Yikes! We have a Y membership, it's just finding the time to go and work out amidst busy homeschooling days that is difficult.
I think your mindset is wonderful. You're so close. You can do it! As far as elliptical, I'm not the one to ask. DH bought me one a few years ago for Christmas from the dreaded store, and within three months it was kaput. I'd LOVE to have one but I think that boat has sailed. lol I'm thinking of doing Curves possibly too. I don't mind getting up and getting out so that I can do it while DH is getting ready for work, but I have a really hard time with getting motivated otherwise. I added the ticker on my blog after seeing yours so that I would feel some sort of push. lol
I've always gotten back in shape by going to the gym and working out on the elliptical and a few weight machines.
However....that won't work now. I had the girls who were comfortable with changing diapers, starting breakfast and herding children to books. The boys aren't. They want to help but it is just doesn't work for me to leave them in the a.m. By mid-day and evening.....my schedule is to full.
Kathy - TW talks of releasing vs. losing (which usually you find again) - so loosing is close. LOL
