Sunday school started well and ended well. The children were watching "Facing the Giants". Our RE coordinator played Bible Bingo with Zander, which will help him feel more comfortable with the RE room - I'm hoping. I visited with Steve (friend Debbie's dh). He apologized that they missed my birthday. I told him not to worry.
We headed to chapel and Arielle got sick. I'm really perplexed. We went out to eat with Steve and Debbie two weeks ago and she got ill during the meal. She's NOT thrown up at all, isn't running a fever; but sporadically she'll get nauseated...several times a day. I'm tracking it beginning today to see if there is a pattern. I'm thinking if it goes on another week, I'll head to the doctor. I thought it was a flu bug...but it doesn't seem to be acting right. I'm wondering about low blood sugar and maybe she needs a snack before meal times....I know it's been at dinner time the past two nights. It passes and then she gets up and eat. She gets white as a sheet. Mike, today as we got into the van, and she was sad to miss church....she said, "Do you think you could ask Dad what's wrong with me?" I think she's lost faith in ME. LOL
While I'm on illness related things. I would welcome any knowledge anyone wants to share on boils. Two of our nine children seem to be prone to repeated boils. I used to think it was a cleanliness issue but none of the others get them....and the two that get them are our neat freaks!!! I'd love to know any theories on what causes some to get them so often, ways to prevent and ways to treat.
Jamin stayed home with Arielle and I took the others out for our weekly dining out event. I had promised last week that I'd take them to Burger King - because I didn't want Burger King last week. LOL I had to pay up today. We went to one with an outdoor play area. I had the big salad and it was o.k.
Then we went to Walmart. Josiah got a hair cut. Jared has GROWN more. I bought him new pants when Mike LEFT - what 4 1/2 months ago? They were inches too short already. We bought MORE pants....an inch bigger in the waist and 2 inches longer. We also bought goodies to mail to Mike and the girls for Valentine's Day /Anniversary.
Zander had earned play station time and so the afternoon was spent with the little ones playing. The big ones went to the mall on some mysterious mission. I laid down with Stacia.
Today I made 1200 calories for the first time since starting to count....it was the SHAKE that we have once a week. I measured it all carefully....3/4 C ice cream, 1/4 C milk, 1 T hard shell and 1 peanut butter ball - 400 Calories. I won't "have" to eat my chocolate almonds tonight. ::snort::
I tried to go to spark people but the whole add a meal thing was very time consuming...for instance I know my smoothies are 300 calories because I counted all the portions...but to put smoothie on the meal plan it kept saying 250 or whatever.....so I'll probably just keep my little notebook thing going. LOL
Not a real exciting day. Time to watch Hogan's Heroes with the big ones.

Sounds like you had a nice day, even though you're all missing Mike. When I read that you went to a BK with an outdoor play area, I was a little envious. Right now it is -2* and a -20* windchilld. Brrr...all the schools cancelled today. And I'm the MEAN mom because we are working on our schoolwork. Hello, when it is 75* in April and you are fishing, you'll not think I'm mean LOL.
I hope Arielle is better very soon.

No great advice about the boils. I had them when I was a kid. My dear old gramma said they were worth a pound of cure...something about all the bad stuff going to one spot so you can get rid of it. Not sure if there is any truth in that.
It sounds like you had a great day. I'm sorry Arielle is having tummy troubles.
When you said you went to BK and an outside play area, I had to shiver, we are in the deep freeze today. Very cold and extremely windy. The snow it blowing straight across the field next door. The Littles are cold today. I had them add sweaters or sweatshirts and their slippers. The house really isn't that much colder, but I think the blowing snow has them feeling colder.
Nausea,
My ds had this for a few weeks one year when he was about 9. Dr found no cause and suggested it might be psychological, but there was nothing much worrying him at the time that we could figure out. It went away.
Boils,
Dd had quite a few at age 5-6. Dr said it was a result of a particular germ which lived up her nose. (Most people's noses?) She has been picking and then the germ was infecting her skin. She had to put some special cream up her nose for a few weeks. All gone.
Yeuch!

No great ideas on the on and off nausea or the boils but I do hope everyone is well soon. Colin my just turned 9 yesterday gets sick once in awhile for no good reason but I notice that it is when he is particularly active soon after eating. I don't know if that might apply to Arielle's situation or not. I usually let him have a fizzy drink (something with carbonation) and that seems to settle his tummy.
I'm going to call the doc again and ask if they can't do something since they ARE recurring there has to be some sytemic infection...yeah...listen to me.
Dorothy, I'm also wondering if this is anxiety of some sort...maybe with Mike gone or....so thinking to work with her and watch but not wanting to ignore something that she should be seen for.
OH - meant to say - we left chapel yesterday because she was white and saying she felt like throwing up....but she never throws up and if it WERE contagious I'd think someone else around here would have caught it by now...so maybe leaving to come home isn't the answer....but maybe it is if she is experiencing anxiety in a situation.....
Sis:
Boils. caused by Staphylococcus Aureus. It is from noses, anad other places on the body that has the staff germ, infected hair follicles, and comes on necks, armpits, groin's and other places. Real bad boils are sometimes called Carbuncles.
Should never try picking at what might be turning into a boil cuz it spreads real easy. Sometimes boils coming a lot can be due to diabetes you don't know you have.
Hot packs help a boil feel better and come to a head. To pop a boil one must be very sterile or it just spreads etc.
If they happen often and get rather big it is important to see a doctor becuase a good antibiotic may be needed to stop it once and for all.
showers are better than tub baths, not using the same towels etc is important, even changing bedding every day that is touched by the boil is good, and etc. Using germicidal soap and detergents also helps.

Sis:
Sorry to hear Arielle is feeling so bad. Lots of stuff could be causing the prolem. She is so quite that she may be just a mess inside due to stress and thus the problem. Even kids can get so tight inside that they get to much acid and can have potential problems.
Also don't know if you remember, but when you were 9-10 yrs. old you had a lot of trouble with belly aches. You stared your period when you were somewhere between 9-10... maybe she is going to follow in your footsteps? That was also the age when we found out about your thyroid problems.
Poor baby, we will pray for her that she gets over this soon.
Has she been getting better about eating more food? Is she has gotten better and is trying more stuff that may be causing her problem. Some stomachs are just so sensitive.
anyway,
love/prayers
I hope Arielle is feeling better and that the boil has healed.
