Here's my Moms of Many Exercise Challenge update.
I've not reported for several weeks. I continue to work out 65 minutes 4 - 5 times a week. I continue to count points. The scale continues to stay the same or go up and down a couple of lbs.....it's frustrating...but my blood pressure is getting lower and lower. I have to assume my cholesterol is lowering and I'm trying to be OK with being a fluffy middle-aged woman, as there isn't much else I can do. ::snort::
I think I had a breakthrough today. Kathy, share this with Tim.
I went to the gym and worked out for 65 minutes.
I walked out of the gym with a sense of accomplishment and...
...an armload of temptation. ::snort:: Could this be the key to my problem? ::snort::
Seriously, it's a fund raiser for a needy family. I'll take the cake to the pie social on Wed - I think.

De'Etta, it's quite an accomplishment to get the workouts into the schedule and sticking to it on a regular basis. Good job!
Maybe the scale isn't moving but that could be from gaining muscle. Have you had your BMI checked recently?
Good news about the lower blood pressure. When you go back in for the thyroid check will you also get your cholesterol checked?
I'll be a fluffy middle-aged woman right along with you ;-)
Fluffy?! Not heard that before, but I like it! I'm fluffy too. My gh says I have good muscle tone, but there's so much "fluff" I'll never look "buff."
Fluff...I'm still chuckling!
Lower BP is great!! Do hope the cholesterol is also down. De'Etta, you're doing great. Don't be discouraged.
My weight is doing the same (plateaued)...2-3 lb move either direction, but bouncing back to its set point. I'm doing Curves Smart machines 4-5 days a week. I feel great, just doesn't show by weight loss.
Darshia - what do you think of the smart machines? I got a card about them in the mail but no know anyone who has used them. They offered me a free "come back" offer - but I won't. I'll stick with the gym until we move...but I AM curious.
Sis:
Don't be frustrated or discouraged about a plateau in weight business. It will change and all of a sudden too as you keep it up.
Congrats!...on the whole effort and success!
Dad is really working on losing per doctor's orders. Has lost some.
MIDDLE age! I still think I am there but when I hear my church friends talking about their adjustment to old age I am taken aback. I AM NOT OLD AGED YET.......Gettin there but not there by a long shot. To bad my birthday count dosen't know anything. :):)
Well, continuing to pray for you and proud of you,
l/p Mom T
De'Etta! The cake looks good! ;-)
I haven't posted an exercise challenge in the last couple weeks. Our dishwasher died and we don't have the cash to replace it right now and washing dishes has taken over our days. Who knew? I've had access to a dishwasher my entire life. Who knew it was such a blessing in disguise?
I'm praying for your bp, thyroid, and weight loss.
Love,
Bcca
De'Etta,
Re: Smart machines. They're the regular machines w/computer enhancements attached.
Pros: Real time feedback of range of motion/rep count/and intensity (colored lights-go for green).
It counts the machines down for me, so I don't have to keep track where I started.
The key tags are programmed to run 30 seconds per machine and then it logs me off, so I don't have to listen for "Change stations now."
Nice look at stats on computer at end of workout:
May request a printout of stats whenever wanted.
Virtual visual image of me showing yellow, green or red dots showing the different areas I worked on for the day and averaged.
Percentages shown of how well I worked machines/muscle groups and if I left any residual energy/effort on the floor. (Was the workout 100% or less?)
I'm working the machines harder and more consistently than prior to "smart" enhancements. (Arm muscles ache daily now.)
Calorie burn is shown + lots more.
Cons:
If a machine breaks down it messes w/overall stats.
It frequently shifts/adjusts hydralics on machines to meet daily anticipated workout based on previous data: hence, sometimes it seems like I'm not getting anywhere...I've learned to go by how good I feel and overall improved health/stamina instead of getting hung up on shifting stats!
Red flashing lights at "END" are a migraine aggrevator/trigger if I fail to look away on the last machine.
There is less visiting w/other members as we're all watching our machine monitors now for feedback. It used to be a more social workout, now it's more an intense workout...less fun...However, I'm addicted to the feel good endorphins, so I'm sticking with it. It keeps my knees strong enough to continue giving my children piggy back rides, so the changes are worth it for me. The cost was $5.00 more a month.
