Maternity Clothes - Scrapbooking Stuff - Telescopes

Still going through the house.... Give YOUR input...

I am taking a break from books, books, books....which I know don't sell well, but I have to get rid of them. 10 books shelves will not fit in a 1500 sq ft home. They'll go to Goodwill if they don't sell. Knowing the Internet has a zillion sites for Pre-school activities, crafts, recipes etc., makes it easier to get rid of books. I AM wondering if I should take some of the more current books and list them on PBS and at least get future book credits.

Film Cannon and Nikon cameras - Obsolete. . . I get it. ::snort::

Maternity Clothes - I won't have a lot of storage room for clothes....I've not gotten pregnant in 2 years....but finding modest maternity clothes these days (or ones that a middle age expectant mom may want to wear) is hard....clothes don't make $ in garage sales....so bring them to Misawa or give them to Goodwill?

Scrapbooking stuff....ugh. I don't PLAN to do "real scrapping" and yet the kids can use it for school...but it's weight....so...garage sale? I have about 10 7 x 7 albums....maybe I should keep them and make quick albums for farewell gifts in Japan. I've done that before....I could find time again?

Telescopes - just to remind me to talk to Mike. We have two nice telescopes and only need one.

BTW, i otanki desu neh!

Could you donate the maternity clothes to a pregnancy life care center near you? If you are blessed with another bundle of joy I know there will be provision for the clothes! I am in a similar situation about getting rid of the clothes and other baby such stuff and cleaning out the attic. I haven't gotten pregnant like I have been praying for in the last several years. I am learning to travel lightly, even if I am not going to Japan! There is less stuff weighing on my brain that way! Take care and keep trudging through all of the stuff. I have the hardest time parting with books. Is there a library system available in Japan? Just curious. Happy yard sale on Saturday!

I was just going to say- how about the pregancy care center in San Angelo- It used to be run by a homeschooling family. I can't remember the name of it, but they were always grateful for maternity/baby clothes.
The other Becky :)

I got rid of all of mine. I'm determined to get rid of the STUFF in my house. I'll be new to me ones if we're blessed with another baby.

Yep - IF I get rid of it, I'll donate it. Thing is that they are all new with Stacia - so I'd rather not get rid of them and have to try to find modest maternity clothes again...KWIM? I don't know what I'll do. I think I"ll wait and see how the downsizing goes. LOL

Just put our new with Stacia cool backpack in the sale for $15. LOL

As far as books that don't sell,if they're somewhat current and in good condition, consider donating them to your library. Most libraries have booksales and the $$ in turn will be used to buy new books.

You can always donate the books to local libraries, especially base libraries. We have done that several times, they really appreciate it. As for maternity clothes, I say keep them. Those are hard to replace, especially overseas. Pick some base pieces or the ones you love the most or will use the most and pare down the rest, if need be, but I wouldn't get rid of them. I am inspired to get my spring cleaning going, reading about all of your accomplishments toward this move!

I'm inspired to become a nudist in a grass hut in the rain forest after all this, Kristine.

Here's my opinion:
1) Maternity clothes should go - wherever you choose. But if you need them again, God will help you find some that are modest, etc.
2) Books - it's so hard to get rid of books, isn't it? I would put some on Paperback Swap. I am getting relentless in getting rid of more adult books and keeping only the children's books and only the best ones. I have a big room for the books, too, but I still run out of space.
3) Scrapbooking Supplies - I think if it were me, I'd pare it down to one box and get rid of the rest. I am almost totally digital now, but still I put the kids 8x10's in an album and Christmas card photos sent to us. So, I do a tiny bit of regular scrapbooking, too.

FWIW!

Great tips, Linda.

NOt sure what I'll do....just starting on the garage storage.

De'Etta, could you keep a few of your maternity things...the things that were the most comfortable and useful? Or, you could get rid of them and if you need some, we all could give you a pregnancy shower and send you things from the states. :-)

Books, ugh, I would have a terrible time getting rid of books. I think the PBS idea is good...a lot would probably go quickly and then you would have credits for future books.

Scrapbooking stuff. Keep one tub of stuff the kids would definitely use.

I know I've said this before, but I can not imagine how tough this all is....praying my friend.

Mike also found my fat and skinny clothes...so I'll wrestle with the clothes issue this week. LOL

UGH.. clothes are hard to know what to do with even w/o a move....can't imagine the added difficulties moving to a foreign country adds since you'll have no idea what the shopping is like.
