What to do?

I am not down to 3 bookshelves yet. I may be down to 6 or 7 (from 10). I need to take another deep swipe at books.

I do NOT want to ask local folks one more time. I have homeschool stuff, fiction books, etc....would you put it on PBS and get a credit for it...if so would it be helpful for me to post them here so that those of you on PBS would know what I posted????

Since local folks don't want these, should I list them online (here and SHS) and take the time to mail them out....maybe I could haul the ones folks want to the trailer and work on them later....

Or should I just take them all to Salvation Army. I was going to take the homeschool stuff to the free table...but honestly if folks don't want them that is just a big headache for those who set up Mom's Night Out...and I don't want to bring them home again.....

What would you do? Please don't be offended if I don't do what you would...but what would you do? List them online for sale, list them free on PBS, take them all to Salvation Army?

One possible option (if you don't mind boxing and shipping) is to send homeschool books to Samaritan? I think that's the name of the ministry that provides homeschool materials free to folks.....
or I would donate them to my local library for their annual booksale or ongoing booksale

What's PBS? Personally if I had that many to give or wanted to get rid of I would first try FREECYLCE and see if someone wanted them through that. (I'm not sure what route locally you took to try to get rid of the stuff) You can go to freecycle.org to learn more about freecycle and to see if a group is near you).

If that didn't work then I would try THL (The Homeschool Lounge)http://www.thehomeschoollounge.com/ THL is a network of over 7,000 homeschooling mamas world wide. (It's a site just for homeschoolers) THL has a group just for curriculum exchange. I'm sure you could get a THL member willing to pay you shipping and stuff for your materials if they were interested.

Since I know you're crunched for time I don't know that I'd post them on PBS. If they aren't snatched up right away then you'd have to go back and take them off the list, wouldn't you?

If they are things that are sellable you might consider boxing them up and sending them to the consignment gal here to sell for you.. at least you'd get something for them and you wouldn't have to bother with them anymore.

Hmmmm. Are these schoolbooks that you really love and will want to use when you're back in 3 years? Maybe you could 'loan' the books and shelves to a friend in town...maybe a friend that always borrows from you...and then pick them back up in 3 years when you come back to visit Cy and Jamin... You know me, just trying to make you smile...

We downsized 7 bookcases and all the books on them. Some I gave to other homeschoolers. The rest were donated to our local library. They'll have a book sale in the spring and profit from the books/videos/cd's that we donated.

De'Etta,

If you have time -- list on SHS and sell. If you don't have time and want to ship them to NY I'd be happy to sell them for you.

I must admit that at this point I'd head to the Salvation Army. You've sold online and in a garage sale. You have very limited time now and probably not enough time. Donating them you'll be able to be done with that part of the process.

Check out Half Price Books. I'm not sure where the closest one is to you, but they actually pay you for your books. And they take ALL of them. If they can't sell them, they donate them to...someone...not sure who. But you'd make some money that way. If that is too big a hassle, I sayd go with freecycle. Then someone will come to your house to pick them up and you don't have to do anything!!
