Monday Update

I'm here at the library and may not make it back to a computer connection today...so here's the low down on Monday. I really will try not to take another break without some sort of warning.

School is done with the younger ones. We're exchanging books for some new ones.

Home Training Tools can no longer mail out their biology kits. I find this strange. I know they mailed them to me in AK and TX...and I can't figure out why they'd be in an online catalog if you can't mail it. ::snort:: BUT evidently the USPS won't allow them to mail the kit. Which means I need to figure out how we're going to do our biology lab this year. LOL

Still debating about language lessons.

I checked with ITT and their costs are MUCH more than simply buying the ticket from JAL. They agreed that it is CRAZY but that what I discovered is true....it is $800 cheaper for me to book TWO tickets than to book a ticket straight from here to Hawaii. I need to book a round trip to Tokyo and then one from there to Hawaii.....they can't help me and suggested I simply find a Japanese Travel Agent...oh this is going to be fun. ::snort:: I'm still trying to get a cell phone. LOL I'm going to see if I can do this online myself.

Nothing earth shattering planned for the day....laundry is done, dinner will be cooked...We're living on TLF TIME.

H.I.S. is a Japanese travel agency we have used in the past. It is a discount agency. I CHECKEd on line and didn't find a branch in our ara - and their website is quite Japanese. Hmmm. It IS always cheaper to book a round trip ticket than a one way one - BTW. Hmmm. I could also go to our HIS office here to check for you! Jun and I have time! SMILE!

Well, I have commented too much on this and haven't been helpful. You do live at the end of Japan's world SMILE! I tried Akita airport too, but didn't find anything. Hmmmm.

De'Etta, Abigail has started Biology and we're doing the experiments in Apologia. We were given the prepared slides and we plan to skip the actual dissections - we're going to find some free virtual ones online. That could be an option. Both my older two took AP and Honors Bio through accredited programs and neither did live labs....

Have you checked Rainbow Resource - they have so many things in their catalog

Yes, Kim...until you try to get out of here you don't realize how remote it really is. ::snort::

The problem isn't finding it - it's that the USPS won't allow it to be mailed. LOL

SO - I think I'll look at the virtual stuff but it seems a shame to have this fancy scope and not use it fully. LOL

I would think that prepared slides wouldn't be an issue... I would check with Rainbow Resource... esp since they're shipping to an APO address they would mark the customs form as "educational supplies" which they are.... the prepared slides are not live specimens

We have prepared slides - I wanted preserved specimens for dissection, but they no longer mail them overseas.

De'Etta, two ways to get around the biology thing. One is to have them shipped to your sons or daughters Stateside. They can forward the box to you here. Or, you can have it shipped to the hotel in Hawaii, if you decide to go. The kids route might be easier.

Kim - but the problem would still be that you're not supposed to ship preserved specimens through the USPS...so the Hawaii thing could work. LOL Though the customs guy is SURE to wonder what in the world I'm doing with dead animals in my suitcase. ::snort:: It may be worth the hassle just to see that. LOL
