Amusing Sights

Remember, amusing could be something funny - could be something that makes us smile. We LOVE how the Japanese go to such great lengths to make construction and inconvenience cheerful or hidden. I'll have to get more photos of a typical construction site.

These bunnies surprised and delighted us today.

Hi! You don't know me (I don't think) but I came across your blog while reading another friend's blog many months ago. I live in Kitakyushu Japan and home school also. Anyways, I've been reading your blog for a while. My husband and I do music evangelism in Japan and recently spoke and led worship at a church in Misawa. It was a Youth Rally and I noticed on your blog this week that one of your sons looks really familiar. Perhaps he was at the rally, I think he was in one of the skits they did? Anyhow, I thought it was crazy that our paths "nearly" crossed! God bless you and your adorable family!!!

Marla - wow. Calvary Baptist? My son, Jared, heads up the human video team from base. They preformed at the youth rally. It was their first preformance. He would love to use it as a tool, but realized today that most of the action and such is geared to what an American youth would know and things such as the "passion" is unknown to most Japanese youth.

Mike and the five younger children were at the rally. I was in Korea, at a women's conference. We "almost crossed".

I KNEW it! Well, maybe we will get a chance to cross paths again, the church says they want us back sometime. Please tell your son that the skit was AWESOME, I was covered in "Jesus bumps" (as my husband calls them) the whole time. You're son is right that the Japanese students might not have fully understood what they were seeing by in our message time afterwards my husband explained it to them. What they saw will certainly leave an impact on their hearts! We were very blessed by being there. It crossed my mind as I was there that you might be from that particular base (I had never looked at the details of where you live) but it wasn't until after I got home that I realized. I hope we do get to meet someday.

Marla, Jared is trying to find someone who understands Japanese youth culture AND the gospel to share how they may be able to communicate the gospel better - without words. If you have ideas, please send them....either here or at dschoosingjoy@gmail.com
