ST FRANCIS THOUGHT
I wanted to mention one more thing about St Francis Cathedral....if you've read my profile or have spent much time around me you'll know why this hit me. I feel like it the verses in Mark sum up what a Christian's life should be about.
One statue of St. Francis had an inscription on it that was something like "I do not pray to be loved; I pray to love"....and I'll have to look that quote up.
As you leave the cathedral, above the doorway, painted in elegant script is the quote "love one another constantly"....I thought that was a great imperative to leave with parishoners as they leave church. I told Mike I wish we could paint something like that at the back of the chapel. It looked very elegant and it packed a great wallop of a message.
