Things I accomplished today:
Parenting - this was most the day since Stacia wants MOM. Her fever is much better today and I'm hoping for a good night sleep.
School - the kids got done their independent work. Couch school didn't happen. However, Arielle and Nolan built a fort out of boxes from the past two days of co-op. I quickly improvised and asked them how what they were doing was like the Pilgrims in Plymouth. They talked about working together to build a shelter, how hard it was with very little materials and they wondered if life wouldn't have been easier for the Pilgrims if they had duct tape. ::snort:: I counted that as school.
Kitchen - I baked and pureed pumpkins. I made an apple pie. I boiled a chicken - it was meant for dinner but things went wild.
Errands - I had to run out for Motrin. While there I bought some things to get a package out to Mike....I'll have to share more about that later. {g} Hmmm...let me just say that the kids and I wanted Mike to be able to participate in Thanksgiving family traditions overseas....
Family - we finished reading Pinochhio. Jamin and Jared read tonight so that Arielle and I can stitch on our Thanksgiving tablecloth. LOL Jamin heard back on his first assignment from Christian Writers Guild. Josiah went into work early. We ended up eating at Burger King tonight - the littles had been begging as they are used to meeting Dad for lunch at BK...and haven't for a couple of months now. Since I realized the chicken wasn't going to magically jump out of the stock pot as a pot pie....I packed them up for BK. I planned to figure out how to replace a toilet flush handle/hardware...but Jamin had pity on me and FIXED IT!!! HE figured it out. Yay. I love crossing things off my list without lifting a finger. ::snort::
Hey - another of my books has found a new home through PBS.
Guess that's it for now. I must admit that things are feeling overwhelming today. I keep thinking of all the things I NEED to do....mail portfolios, pay bills, work on lap books, play with the kids in the park.....and I feel like I'm slipping behind...but really I KNOW that this is because I'm tired, Stacia is sick and things can wait.....Thanks for the reminder, Darshia. I do tend to be list driven if I don't watch it.

For a woman who says she is behing, you are doing remarkbly well.
Hang in there, you are doing fantastic!
Sis,
As I searched scripture seeking a prayer for you, I came across one we spent a year in PWOC learning about.
"Delight yourself in the LORD;
And He will give you the desires of your heart." Ps. 37:4
I trust that He knows you are weary and your lists are long.
May I suggest you take a moment in your day and look upon the quilt/banner you were given w/the dancing lady and remember why you delight, why you choose joy, and perhaps even, "Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him" Ps 37:7...with a cuppa'tea?
(I hope I'm not being presumptuous.)
LOL - of course you are not being presumptious, Darshia!!!
Gee - I vaguely remember teaching a retreat on this topic. LOL It's that resting and delighting that is keeping me going....I have that lovely quilt hanging on the all and it reminds me often throughout the day to DELIGHT and REST.
Thanks for another reminder.
Thanks for the kind words Debbie...but you know this is the 2nd out of 3rd day this week we've not done our couch school....that's ok. It's the fun stuff and we'll catch it up tomorrow or over the weekend. I'm trying to stay on track so that we can take two weeks off when Mike returns with nothing hanging over our heads. LOL
DeEtta,
Even if all you had accomplished was the parenting, you'd have done a good job today!
Dorothy
I'm praying for you! I know how hard it is when a little one gets sick. Everything just seems to stop. I would just concentrate on what you can do and let the other things wait. I would also try to get some rest when you can. You don't need to get run down and catch whatever's going round.
Blessings,
LIsa
De'Etta you are an incredible woman. I would love to be a fly on the wall in your home. I always look forward to reading your blog each day. Through your blog we have a peak at your precious family life. You are so dedicated to God, your husband, your children, your family and friends and to your chaplain "wifely" duties. I would say the Lord looks down on you and smiles :-) Have a blessed day!
Sis: Wow! Glad the older kids are being such a help to you. I hate toliets and repairs they often need. Couple weeks back I flushed the toliet, went to work and the handle did something crazy and it ran over for close to 2 hours until Dad woke up... needless to say we had a partian wet bedroom.
Glad Stacia is better and still praying. Forts are fun. We use to go into the farmers wheat just on the west side of the road going to St-X. What fun to make forts and other hideouts there... that is until the farmer caught us etc. Cardboard forts are more fun I bet and easier to clean up.
Won't say to much about you needing rest etc because your friends pretty much covered it all. Even though you have stuff to do maybe you can just take a day and sleep everytime she sleeps etc. Hopefully an older kid will be home to keep watch over the littler ones.
Dad went out 2 times yesterday, dentist and church. They taught him how to properly get in the car...
As I was helping Dad out of the car here came running two special girls from Texas/Spokane. They had just gotten to church an hour ahead of us. Sunday they will be back to our regular service and they are all sleeping in the gym at church. THEY LOOKED SUPER GREAT.
love/prayers
Mom
Ah - you are all very encouraging.
I've not gotten school done today...but I've parented a sick baby and I cooked dinner already. That's enough.
MOM - YOU SAW MY BABIES!!!! ARE THEY GOING TO BE IN YOUR SERVICE ON SUNDAY?? WILL YOU SEE THEM IN A SERVICE BEFORE THEN? I KEEP PRAYING NO MORE INJURIES DURING THE HUMAN VIDEOS! lol
Wow, sounds like you got a lot done to me. Hooray Jared for fixing the toilet!
Hope you can get some rest this weekend. I know, I know, not always easy when you're the Mom!
