Scenes from Today's Co-op

Setting up can be harder than a person would think!

Ugh - breaking down the boxes

Everyone is old enough to help! Honey - one of our members has bee hives, she brought honey to sell - yumm! Honey 2 My neighbor with her load of produce and cardboard - I thought this was darling!
Mike's day off has fallen on Friday. Friday: the day that begins early with speech, then picking up and sorting produce, then passing out produce, and drama class. Mike is such a good sport. He laughed and said, "it's normal". I guess he's learned to deal with an extroverted wife. ::snort::

During the kids' drama class Mike and I went out for lunch. We talked. I asked about produce co-op and he told me that every time I've done this it's been not only about produce, but about building community and relationships...he knows that's the way I am and he's fine with it. There are some great benefits to being married 23 years...you start to "get" each other eventually. ::snort::

Yes, I sterilized the basket!!!

Oh De'Etta, I'm SO glad that Emma's sickness today offered you and Mike the chance to eat lunch together (and alone) ;-)

Thanks for taking Erik. He had a blast and dutifully reported all the details to Emma when he returned. His shining moment was learning that Stacia liked him enough to cry when he left...

Christ and community...You've got it right Sis! Well done! Glad you and Mike had some "two-gether" time.

Deja - we had a blast with Erik too. LOL It was FUNNY how HE took to her and then how SHE took to him.

I love how you are able to make this produce co-op a whole family affair. Cute pictures as usual!

You'll have to quit showing produce pictures (LOL)! I keep missing ours and every once in awhile I'm tempted to think about it again... it could be an extension of our SAGE TOG co-op... It never dawned on me until the last time you mentioned your produce co-op that you named it the same as our TOG co-op. How cool is that? Must mean it's a GREAT name!

Stacia's cute as ever! Speaking of the produce co-op, what is the website that you can look up a local co-op? I've been trying to actually stay within my food budget and the only way I can see doing that is by getting our produce for less...

Thanks,
Jen in Az

P.S. I've been in a much better mood today;) Repented last night and threw all caution to the wind and took the kids to the park today.

Jodi - if it weren't a FAMILY ministry I would never do it. I'm very careful not to get involved in things that will detract or rob time that I need with the family. The kids see this as a ministry...one it helps OUR shopping dollars...two they work as a team and serve others....three they get to HEAR others say "We ate the whole basket this week" from folks who couldn't eat half the basket when they joined....they know that they are helping others make a difference that they desire to make.

We thought of doing it at a church - no mess, kids could work on school etc...but I didn't want to be away from home all Fri morning, and I wanted all the kids invovled. This way the little ones work and when they start creating more chaos than help - one of the middles takes the two youngers out to play.

Jen - I'm not sure where that website would be.

OK just typed a whole comment about SN co-op and then realized you meant PRODUCE co-op. I'm not sure where to find such a website.
