Never Dull
First the big news...blog readers have met our 21 year old daughter, Krista. She has been investigating various opportunities for missions. She has found several short term mission opportunities...but SURPRISED us by applying to Eugene Bible College. She's decided to get a degree in Intercultural Ministry. She'll enter as a Junior because of her course work at Master's Commission. (No, I did not make this announcement already. That was BREANNE and JAMIN last week!) I got to talk to the nice registrar at EBC several times today. I'm thrilled that he says they can all three rent an apartment (hopefully on campus)....that is certainly more cost effective than paying for three to live in the dorms (though I expect all will pay their own way - It is more cost effective regardless of who pays. )
In other news....we made our traditional "Christmas Dentist Trip" with Bre. ::snort::
Bre and all the young adults and kids went out shopping today. This left me ALONE in the house for a few hours. That's a rare thing. She said the quiet break was part of my Christmas gift.
I picked up a few items at the United truck - Thanks Z family for letting me piggy back...even though I didn't get the cheese. ::snort::
Jared had basketball practice. Josiah and Jamin both got called in to work early.
Some glimpses:
Sunday's Family Advent Gift...We already had Castle Keep for school and it seemed a good time to give it out...and the Dinosaur Match game is from our vacation. I kept it HIDDEN in my closet.
Early a.m. games
A bit excited to try out the new game
He EXCELLED at this memory game - I didn't.
Mike was tougher competition for him.
David and Bre teach a human video
Stacia loves to hang the Adorenaments
Reading the clue for the night - we hunted for two as we are behind several days again. LOL
Putting make up on mom...so determined.
Magnetic book clips instead of book marks this year
I've come to peace with the daily Advent hunt/gift. We (Mike and I) won't fill stockings this year...so really the Advent gifts are their stockings spread throughout the month.....and we are still within budget. They may put a few things in the stockings. Who knows? We've also been putting the little gifts in the stockings of the ones who miss the hunt. We've also fallen behind on our activities....but we are doing others that weren't listed...like lots of games, shopping with Bre etc.

De'Etta - I have so many random thoughts to this filled post. :) First, exciting news! So glad the kids will be on campus together. Wow! That's huge.
We LOVE Castle Keep. It's a fun one. In fact, we enjoyed it so much (and think it's perfect for certain ages) that we sent it to my sister in law this year. Sadly, she wrote and told me we also sent it to her last year!! Ha! Too funny.
We get behind on our Advent as well. There's a lot to do during this time of the year. My goal is to write down some notes near the end of the holidays to help plan for next year. There are some things I've learned that I will surely do differently, but only if I can actually remember them. LOL.
Oh that's exciting news about Krista! Castle Keep looks fun...I'm going to have to put that on our "want list." : )
How wonderful they can share an apt even on campus. The only "down" side is that neither will be able to have a friend stay over since I imagine there are rules about guests of the opposite sex spending the night.... oh well they can have sleepovers at their friends..
College is such an exciting time and I only have one heading out in Aug
Hmmm 3 kids at EBC...would be a great way for them to be connected with eachother in the event that the USAF, I mean the Lord, moves you overseas...
And Josiah can come over and wrestle my boys anytime he needs a younger sibling fix ;-) Oh, and I can take all my kids to Chick Fil A to visit him when he's working. I can teach Elisha to stand at the counter and say, "Hi Cy! I luf you Cy!" Then, maybe we'll drive him away and he'll move to Eugene, too ::snort::
Just a thought.
Congrats to all three on admission to the college!!
Magnetic book marks, that's intriuging.
Is EBC near where David lives? Or he heading to college as well?
Jodi - I love having you back from your frozen trial..... I'm liking the magnetic book clips a lot.
Renee - David will be at the same college.
Thank you for sharing so much of your heart and family with us. I love seeing how God works in all of us in His unique way. It's cool to see His testimony of faithfulness and love and guidance in our families.
We also have the "Family Guide to Biblical Holidays" and refer to it often -- just saw it in your sidebar.
Merry CHRISTmas to all of you!! What a sweet and blessed family!!
Really cool how the siblings are sticking together and supporting each other for college!
It's wonderful to know you are all together again!! Continue to enjoy.
Merry Christmas!
Kathy - too funny about Castle Keep. BTW if you have my friend Marie's email address, I'd love to get it.
I will remember to follow your lead and make notes on what I want to change for next year. Good tip.
Renee - we'll talk to them about the sleepover issue...but really they are saving well over 1K a MONTH by sharing an apartment...they can go sleepover at the friend's if they want too. ::snort::
Deja - I read these comments to Josiah - just in case he discovers that he needs a sibling fix in about 8 months. LOL
Thanks, Mel. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well. I'm so glad that Andy is home for Christmas.
Totally, Darshia.
Saving $1K a month is a HUGE savings...and certainly worth not being able to have a buddy (for Jamin) or a girlfriend (for Bre or Krista) over for the night....
Just as Madeleine will deal with 24hr quiet hours (her Ipod will come in handy) in Grossnickle - which is the residence she must live to be part of the Honor's program which is a stipulation of her scholarship.
