Lent...Passover...

Lent is HERE....nearly....Passover...this year is NOT slowing down. Click HERE to download a free 15 page Lenten Activity Booklet (Protestant bent). The author, Miiko Gibson, also has a Holy Week Family Devotional at CurrClick. Miiko is the lady who hosts the annual Inductive Advent Study that we like to use.

THIS is a lapbook on Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. I'm not sure if we'll do this or stick with our readings and the free activity folder.

For those who wonder WHY our family is doing Lent these days - read A Protestant/Low Church Family Does Lent. I wrote this last year and I feel the same this year. I actually wrote quite a few posts on Lent last year as we explored the concept. If you want to read more, enter "Lent" in the search box.

I'm amazed this season is upon us already. I'm determined not to stress over the busy-ness of the next 6 weeks, or trying to celebrate Passover...I'm going to focus on the meaning of this season...for us (being you know - Low Church Protestant) the celebrations of Lent and Passover are aids to focusing on Jesus' death, burial and resurrection.....I intend to focus and be drawn into ever-deepening intimacy with the Savior of my soul.

I DO want to find a cool cross with candles to light during our devotions the next six weeks....

You probably know how I'm excited about this season, too. I look forward to looking through the resources you linked to! Blessings on you and yours this Ash Wednesday.

Mel - you're home. Did you blog about this? I'm going to hop on over to your blog.

De'Etta, I found a really cool Lent lapbook. It took me all morning but I finally got it printed. Tomorrow we'll begin working on it. I plan for us to use it throughout the six weeks of Lent. Did you get your Jesus Tree done? I'm not as far along with cutting out the ornaments so I figure I'll work on it this Lent and we can do it next year. Have you checked ebay for your Lenten cross? I wish I would've known you were looking for one. I found one for 99 cents at a thrift store and gave it to a local friend.

Michelle....I'm making a Lenten cross....we shall see. LOL

I'll check and see which lapbook you are doing. The kids have several new books in the planning and I am trying to figure out how many we want to do at once.

Jesus Tree - NO mine are not done....I'm looking at it and deciding what to do. I REALLY like this and want to do it - but I don't think I can get all the ornaments done and the whole point of celebrating this season for our family is to focus on Christ, Passover, Resurrection....NOT to stress about getting a Jesus Tree done - so I'm praying today to figure if I should wait and do it next year or if I can work on it and NOT STRESS. LOL

How sweet of you to wish you'd known I was looking....but then Lent/Passover totally snuck up on me.....since we've only celebrated it once....well to the extent that we did last year.
