Things are Happening....

Bre's Interviews - Sunday Pastor Gary talked about what to do when you are "Living in the Handbasket". He used Elijah and the Widow as his text. One point he made, which I'd never caught before, was that God had already commanded the widow to provide for Elijah before Elijah showed up and asked. Bre felt God encouraging her that He had already told someone to provide her job for her. She walked out of church and had the text message for the interviews.

You need to know the girls KNOW how to work this job hunt thing. I've been very impressed. They've gone in and asked for applications. Gone back in to turn them in. Gone again to ask if they can provide any other info. Passed out resumes. They've sent thank you notes to those who interviewed them. Bre walked into the Taco Bell interview and the General Manager said, "You have a job." It seems that last week when Bre went in to check on her application she spoke to the General Manager and her supervisor was there too. He told this General Manager to hire Bre or he would. ::snort:: Cool. Then Bre went to the Staple's interview. She had told them she wanted to attend the 8:30 service on Sunday. They were snotty and insisted she had to work starting early...and couldn't come in at 11:00. They appeared put out that Bre wouldn't budge. I was proud of Bre for sticking to her guns. She said it's easier knowing she had the Taco Bell job. God provided both girls jobs within 12 days in a county with a 15% unemployment rate. Yes, they are minimum wage jobs, but that's o.k. It will help them get through college.

Nate and Heather - My brother and his wife left today. They'll visit her family in TX and then fly on to their new home in China. Please do pray for safe and UNEVENTFUL travel for them.

OUR Saga - After 8 days, Stacia's birth certificate had not arrived in WA. Sgt. thought we should wait a bit longer. I KNOW the ladies at Tom Green County did what they said they would do - that's the TEXAS way. I talked to the lady who handles these things this a.m. They KNOW me now. They do not allow you to order certificates online...can't even pay my utility bill online... so they've had several conversations with me. This a.m. they hadn't received Stacia's certificate back, but said (against policy) they'd let Jamin or Josiah pick up new copies...they'd give them to them for free, because they know I had ordered them. They were to ask for a specific lady. Josiah reports he has the certificates in hand. They had come to the office right after I talked to Debbie on the phone. He's sending them via UPS overnight. He's sending them to ME - HERE - in C/O Bre, Krista and Jared so SOMEONE will be able to sign for them and I'll hand carry it to the Sgt.

There is lots to do today...check on hotels, rental vans, meds, shop, pack, hotels in Tokyo, fill out tourist passport applications, and figure out if I should go to SEA on Thursday or wait until Monday. If I go up Monday, we have a full week to get tourist passports and fly out before the weekend.....if I go up Thursday we may end up sitting through the weekend, paying for hotel living and not able to do any business. Guess we'll probably head up next Monday...but will talk to Mike before I decide.

Lots of praises today...but a few prayer requests....

  • Safe arrival of Stacia's birth certificate
  • My health - no more details forthcoming, but I need healing and I don't want to mess with the tri-care while traveling thing.
  • Mike is in the midst of a week of newcomer briefings...pray he enjoys and learns much.
  • I have a zillion details to remember and take care of.
  • Quick granting of tourist passports
  • Housing for our family that will bless us, bless our neighbors and bless those to whom we seek to minister - we don't care if it's off base or on, we don't care if it's a 4 plex or a double apartment...we just want a few walls and a front door.

Any chance you want me to try to contact Open Bible friends in Tokyo?? Some live "by" the airport. Others pretty south (by Yokohama)... but you'd get some help. Don't forget to use Kim as a resource. She can figure out the Tokyo hotel stuff for you. Really, get some help from people there. Let me know (via Fbook). Tammy

So happy to hear about Bre's new job and from the sounds of how well they treated her it's exactly what God had in mind for her. :)

I'll be praying for all of your intentions; especially for your health, your travel arrangements and safe travels for your brother and his wife.

What great news about Bre's job! God is so good and I know you all are in the midst of this, but it is so very cool to be watching it all unfold from the outside.

Continued prayers for all your requests and praising and thanking God for all the positive news.

Sounds like things are moving right along. Why the rental van? That way no one has to drive your van to Seattle? That's probably a good idea then there isn't the added expense of others going there and back as well?

Praying that you get it all sorted, smoothly from here on in, and that you will soon be reunited with Mike.
