Progress on "Our" Home

We have a front step and door....notice the reserved sign. I SO wanted to mark our name on it...
Photobucket

Kids in front of the house...note the framed in area for a driveway, and the framed in forms for concrete to run all along the front of the house.
Photobucket
Not sure WHAT this means...it's to the side of the house. We're REALLY hoping they aren't going to concrete the side of the house too....I'd love a garden in this spot...but hey....whatever....
Photobucket

The deck off the dining room is done and we have this nice little decorative fence too.
Photobucket

This is our backyard from the edge of the patio. I'm not exactly sure where the boundary will be...and I don't know what these large things in the ground are for...Mike will probably know. They are in the yards of all the homes.
Photobucket

They've cut the field from the road to just behind our home. It was all as tall as the grass on the right. I'm not sure if someone is going to put another dozen homes in or if a farmer was clearing the field for the fall.
Photobucket

I would have a great view from the kitchen sink if it weren't for this frosted finish. ::snort:: A friend told me that they do that as most houses only have a view of the next house...
Photobucket

Peeking in the sliding door....We have WALLS!. This shows dining room, bar and kitchen...little square of light is the laundry room...The door leads to the hall and 1/2 bath.
Photobucket

Living room - the stairs are now framed in. The short little closet doors lead to storage.
Photobucket

Some sort of fan is new.
Photobucket

Silly - as it isn't our home...but we're excited to watch the progress. It gives us a sense that we belong in Japan and aren't just passing through. LOL We DO have to keep telling ourselves we're RENTING and not BUYING as we see the choices of landscaping. ::snort::

But if they pave the whole yard...we'll simply learn to garden as the Misawans do....Photobucket

Pretty, isn't it?

YEA. It's coming along. I was wondering if you are buying or renting. Now I know.

Sis:

How fun and what a neat thing for you all to look forward to as you wait. Nothing like a brand new home. Had one once by Douglas Garden school.

Container gardening is fun. Dad grows tomatoes, peppers, onions and I grow flowers in containers. I like it cuz then I can move the flowers where I want them at any given time.

Wow, those purple flowers are beautiful.

Cindy - you must not have seen my answer to that question last week. ::snort:: We can't buy in Japan.

Mom, I bet I give containers a try. LOL

Those circles in the back yard look like they're for a septic tank... but wouldn't you be hooked up to sewer?

Oh, it's fun to see progress!

What's the estimated finish date? Carys said to me, "What's that?" when I was looking at the house pics. So I said, "That's Stacia's house." Her reply? "Ohhhh! I want to go to Stacia's house." She did like my answer. :)

DeEtta,
Do you have the book "Square foot gardening?" What about seeds?? You will have to look and see what the seasons are like regarding gardening. Sounds like one of those "topsy turveys" might be good for tomatoes for you guys too!

Lookin good!

Beth- I do have that book. I'm thinking something like the topsy turvy for tomatoes and strawberries.... maybe even if it is paved we can put a raised bed with a few things. We'll have to see what they end up doing. LOL

Ah - tell Carys hi, Linda.

Julie, looks like septic to me too....I assumed we'd have sewer. Stay tuned. LOL

You're home-to-be looks really neat. Cool to see the progress. So glad the TX home is nearly sqared away.

The some sort of fan in the picture looks alot like our a/c's here in Thailand. They are even mounted the same way. Will you have a/c in your home? It usually takes one of these nifty little units for each room where we want a/c.

Blessings,
Jamie Z.

Jamie - I'm hoping that's what it is....and I'm wondering "Why SEPTIC"?
