School Help

I have to face facts. School begins here shortly....and our carefully packed 9 weeks of school texts, schedules and supplies will NOT be in our possession. ::snort::

I don't have a problem winging it with Middle School or Elementary for 6 -9 weeks. We'll be able to make up the TOG as the year goes on. This is tougher for Jared. He's a 10th grader, has certain credits he wants to earn and it will be near impossible for him to make up 6 - 9 weeks of work.

I've visited the library. I have the lapbook files that accompany our Apologia Zoology 2. We checked out books to match the subjects and will do Science that way. I found Family Math at the library and we'll do drill, games etc for math for Nolan on down. We'll do writing and LA on the fly...fairly easy to do. We're going to focus on Japanese Culture and language until October.... Jared will do this as well. I'm sure he'll earn a full high school credit in both culture and language.

Here are a few things I'd like to find used CHEAP (as I already own them) or borrow until October....

  • Math U See - Zeta, the next one and Algebra (discs too)
  • Apologia Biology
  • TOG assignments for Year 2 Unit 4.....I am going to contact them and see if they'll email them to me...or we may just get the reading list and at least do the's the Revolutionary Period and Jared REALLY wants to do it slowly and WELL.....he doesn't want to skimp or try to "catch up" this is an area of concern for Him.
  • I would love it if you'd share your favorite educational sites for online drill and learning....
  • Jared would like to take a debate course - anyone have a good one to recommend?

I'm sure there is more we could use or need...but I can't seem to get my mind to focus on school tonight. ::snort:: If someone has this to loan, I'd pay the shipping....

PS I tried to send this to SHS but I don't know that it went through.

I can't offer any advice on your dilemma for Jared, except I'm sure over the next 3 years he will catch up. Is the home school support group on base any help?

DOD funded. Elmendorf sponsors our school. Designed for PCS'ing families. Bridge/gap learning. About 1 month's worth of work/grade level.
Keeps skills sharp. 3 assessment tests. Online tutorials for parent about program and tutorials for child. Immediate grading/progress report. Additional resources if needed for specific areas.
Math & Reading through the Princeton Review.

De'Etta, I have TOGY2 and will be happy to type up whatever
assignments you need for whatever levels you want. Let me
know offlist exactly what you are looking for and we'll get it
to you asap! Maybe I can get a scanner and scan the weeks and try to send them in a pdf file..... do you need all levels? We could try that if it wouldn't be an infringement or anything like that. Let me know. Probably better to email me at

I have a copy of Apologia Biology that we're finished with. It's the older edition, but it's in excellent condition. I'd be glad to send it right out if it would work for you. Let me know!

I would give you my print unit 4, but I was told there are some errors that only affect rhetoric level (so I don't even know what they are). They asked if I'd prefer print or digital for my replacement, and I took digital. If you want the old print with the mistakes you're more than welcome to it, but I don't think I can send you the digital.

Thanks for all the sites....exactly what I need.

TOG - let me think about this and call them on Monday. I think I have an old year 2 and so my books would go with those. I'm guessing if they HAVE a file with the assignments for the older version, they won't mind sending it along. I can't remember what I have now. LOL

I received several offers for Apologia Biology. Thanks so much for the willingness to help us out....we've accepeted that an Apologia from Debbie and family.

Jared will be relieved. I can figure out how to shorten TOG, if need be.

When we PCSd to Garmich I left some of my homeschool materials in storage figuring the kids would be going to school. When we returned to homeschooling the second year, I contacted a Catholic company that I had previously ordered from (and had the books 'trapped' in storage); I explained the situation and they gladly sent me an electronic file of the book. When I was finished at the end of the year I deleted the files. I was so grateful for such an understanding company.. I bet TOG would do the same
