Welcome to Our Home

I mentioned last week that our house never has that "homey feeling" until our out of town family and friends have visited. We hit on the idea of sharing a room a day. When it was all done we've taken 10 video clips....so I'll post one now.

{Unfortunately, I took them on the "high" setting and they wouldn't load. We've had redo them and I think we lost some of the funniest clips. For instance, I'd run up and down our stairs about 20 times before we finished the clip the first time...you miss my wheezing...and the kids' witty remarks. ::snort::}

Keep in mind this is an American Style home. It does have some unique features and we'll try to point those out as we go through the tour.

Be aware the house is "family clean" but not "holiday clean" or "company clean". I'd also like you to be aware that you may hear comments about Arielle not wanting to be in the video and then see her in a few spots. She didn't mind opening a few doors but didn't want to be the main star. I didn't exploit her. ::snort:: Jared, Arielle and I actually had a bit of fun taking these clips.

Feel free to make the comments and suggestions you would if you were taking a real life tour.

LOVELY home! Glad you can show it off! Technology is great, isn't it?!

Love the heated entry! Huge for those of us who have lived in snow and no mud room!

So far I *love* it! Especially the entry way, with the shoe area. Isn't that a regular feature of Japanese homes? I think I saw something like that in the picture book "A Pair of Red Clogs."

Looking forward to seeing more videos! :)

Oh, this is fun!
But I am embarrassed that you look WAY more moved in than I do (& I've been here over a year). We hung a mirror & picture yesterday & talked to day about whether/where to hang more. But your house looks settled & lived in. Good job!

Tammy - yes, I LOVE technology except for the times I hate it. ::snort::

Jen - the closet would be the place most put their shoes...there are also cupboards you can buy to put in your entry way for shoes. Mike built this cubby hole thing (which also has a lidded bench to sit on but we didn't bring it knowing it would most likely not fit in base housing) in AK.

Janette - YES the heated floors are AMAZING and we've not had snow yet. I do wonder about melting snow but it would melt regardless. LOL

Jodi - it's a joy to show you my new home.

Yvonne - hope it works soon.

Liz - we move so often that our goal is to have everything up and settled within 2 weeks, before we get really busy with ministry and schedule. Since it took so long to move in - we were already busy. SO....everything didn't get done in two weeks - I went to Hawaii....but it's "mostly done" which is dangerous...when we hit "livable done" we tend not to finish. ::snort:: That explains our big push.

De'Etta, it's beautiful! Great idea converting the garage to a spare 'oom. :) The heated tile flooring in the entry is a wonderful feature. Can't wait to see the rest of the house. :) Thanks for the tour!

I love that you share this through video. I was following your posts but have missed a few. You're in Japan, right? Love the shoe cubbies at the front door! Need to do that in my house. ;) And the tiny sink...very interesting!
