Happy Birthday to The Man

The love of my life had a birthday while we were apart. This means we will not have the giant "over the hill" party that I'd envisioned locally. We're leaving on Tuesday. He and the children have opted to celebrate in OR.

I do not have a problem with aging. It's not bothered me in the least to hit 30 - I felt I'd finally gained some "respectability" to teach Bible Studies. LOL Turning 40 was hardly a blip. 45  didn't phase me. It is with a great measure of humor, therefore, that I discover it's strange, amazing, bemusing to find myself married to a man who just turned 50! When in the world did that happen? It seems I'd just turned 20 and he was suggesting a wedding in 3 weeks. ::snort::

He still thrills me. He amazes me. His love and passion for God and the Bride of Christ humble me. His care of the children and I are unsurpassed. He is aging WELL.....oh he's so fine....but still he's 50. Wow. That awes me. Somewhere along the line, I think we've grown a bit older.....and I love it...but I'm bemused to find ME married to a man of 50. ::snort::

I would have not traded any minute (the ups and downs) of the past 27 years with this man.

The only birthday we didn't like was 60....the year we were done in the Philippines etc.

It will be fun to celebrate with you all the 50th for Mike. Does seem strange to think you are all getting well into the 40's and now Mike 50. WHEW! You two have done so well. God Bless you as much as he has blessed us with having you two in our lives.

Just got back from eating out with swimming friends for our 48th at the Electric Station.

Welcome to the club! I became a wife of a 50 year old this year as well (and I'm still waiting to hit 40!) It's a good age. :) Happy birthday to your sweetie! Stephanie

This is sort of the way I felt at my husband's last birthday. I am married to a 70 year old! Then I look at my mom and dad who celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last Saturday. WOW! He's not so old!

Thanks for the perspective, Wilma. LOL

Yes, I'm more bemused and in awe than depressed or upset.....sort of realizing we've lived a lot of life together and praying we have a good 40 years left. LOL

I'm with you in not knowing how we can have aged so quickly!! I'll be 45 in Dec... hard to believe.. and I don't like it one bit. Not one teeny tiny bit!
