QUESTION OF THE DAY

OK - lots of stupid questions because I no longer have access to SHS to ask questions. LOL

Mike bought me a cool 19" widescreen flat lcd monitor before he left. In fact, we got two. He left instructions NOT TO TOUCH THE SCREEN!!!

We live in the middle of the dust bowl down here....how do I dust these screens???? What do you all do....and what will happen if I touch the screen...because I've ALWAYS been the "toe over the line" type and now I'm wondering often...what would happen if I TOUCHED the screen?????

My IT sweetie said that the reason you don't touch it is so the oils from your skin won't interfere with the coating on the screen. He also said that at the office they use Endust for Electronics on all their LCD and laptop screens, etc. He said that it can be tricky to find, so if you can't find it use a VERY mild oil soap and water mix (like Murphy's) to make a damp cloth similar to what you'd have on one of those eye glass cleaning wipes. VERY little on it. You don't want "wet" at all. Then you can use that to clean it.

Hope that helps!

I think they say not to touch it because they are made up of liquid crystals. If you LIGHTLY touch it when it's on, you'll see the picture distort around your finger. If you poke it too hard, it will damage the screen.

I just dust mine with a swiffer. We don't have a fancy or expensive screen however, so YMMV.

when I only have a dusty screen I use a clean fuzzy duster(I wash it after each use aroung the house. When it is worse I do something like Steph said.

.....God would strike you from heaven for disrespecting your husband...I say you should line all the kids up and blow really hard and the dust will just fly off; )
