Check it out

My friend Debbie told me about an album she found that she thought would be great for me. I agree (but am committed to using all my Creative Memory albums first). While I was picking up stuff for PWOC today, I called Debbie and she directed me to the aisle where these babies are kept. These are made by Pebbles Inc.
You can slide your printed 4 x 6 photos right into the sleeves (No Time), or add a couple of journaling boxes (Some Time), or do what I've been doing with my digital, make a fancy 12 x 12 layout and slide it into a full page protector with the next page being plain (Creative Time). This seems to allow for digital scrapping pretties when wanted, ease of storing photos in a safe spot etc....not sure that I'd want to do this when I reach my digital photos.....as I plan to do most of that on whatever size, print it out and put them in an album....but who knows.
They ship FREE to military bases world wide....gotta love a company that puts their "military support" into discounts. ::snort:: It's standard shipping and I've been told that standard shipping to Japan can take a long time...but it IS an option.
Has anyone used these albums?
No, we didn't find winter gear...but surely Japanese children wear winter gear, boots, gloves etc for skiing etc???? I've heard from saver that the BX sells out quick and has cheap stuff that doesn't hold up. I've heard that you need to be petite to find clothes in Misawa and that there isn't much there actually....but don't you think that they'd have SOME winter gear either in local shops or at the base thrift shop? I can see stocking up for Jared, Mike and I - possibly Arielle but the boys and Stacia are young enough I would think there would be something! What do you think?

Other winter clothes options: Do you want me to shop here in AK and ship to you once you're in Japan? Or...you could shop Army/Navy when you're here and I'll store and ship it when you're settled. I don't expect Walmart to have winter stuff in stock by the time you arrive...assuming you can get up here...

Another option for winter coats: Online shopping. JCPenny has their Arizona Jean Co. 4-1 system jackets on sale for $24.99 right now. These are what we buy our boys ea. year in AK. Snow pants are also on sale ~$13.00 ea.

Great option, Darshia. I'm going to check the local store. If they don't have any, I'll go online. I like that you have so many options with these.....

If folks in Misawa say there are few options for winter outerwear, I would trust them. I know in Garmisch the PX had only expensive coats and ski pants (I'm talking top name brands)... thankfully Aldi (local chain store) carried much less expensive ones but you had to watch their ads or you would miss the delivery.. Actually DeEtta I need to look in my attic; I may even have an outgrown pair or two... need to check that after church.
Any shipping other than first class mail can be slow because first it goes through the USPS to San Diego and then the military takes it across the ocean. We had packages arrive in 10 days and we had some arrive in nearly 10 wks. It really varies on the time of year; I ordered Christmas gifts in late Oct to be sure they would arrive on time

Sorry that the sales at Penneys didnt' work for you. How about asking friends in AK to shop at the thrift store for you??

Free shipping of albums to any military base sounds likes a GREAT deal. The new CM Picfolio albums allow the same type of format and the best part is the new ones are strap hinge as opposed to the old ones that were a sewn binding which you couldn't add to. The new picfolios can do 4x6 as a photo or journal box or they allow for a full page of whatever you want to put in there. I'm glad they listened to customer complaints and quickly changed the binding on this.

If I don't foget I'll call some of the ski places to see if they have any of last years stuff in the back room.
