Quick update

I saw a doc today (and that's a story I'll save for another day). I have a whopper pill that is supposed to work wonders....and some other med that I'm not sure WHAT it is supposed to do....They ran a bunch of tests and I'm waiting to see what other goodies I may be in for. I'm about to launch a full out war on Tri-care.....but I LOVE the clinic at GAFB. They finally told me to GO and they'd fax a referral...which no one around here wants to take because they say Tri-care Prime won't pay them. I decided I'd see the doctor anyway as I had been approved to do so by the GAFB doc and would argue with Tricare as needed. I'm waiting for the doc to call.

I'm waiting for Sgt. A at McChord to call.

I'm waiting for the travel office at GAFB to call.

I'm done shopping. I bought new Life Journals. The girls will take Arielle out this afternoon. We've had hair cuts. We're doing laundry and preparing to move back to WA.

I am NOT homeless

Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually come; You have given commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress. Ps 71:3 NASB

Habitation - dwelling place, den, refuge, lair

I have much to write about this verse, but left my life journal at the house - and I'm not at the house. ::snort::

This verse has ministered to me greatly during this pcs (military move). God is my immovable, strong and secure habitation. He's my dwelling place, my den and He welcomes me to continually come to this secure location. ::snort:: HE has given commandments to save me....He is my rock and my CASTLE...my stronghold.

Regardless of where I live....be that a trailer, a hotel room, a campus house, a single family dwelling, a duplex, a 4plex, a high rise apartment, off base house, on base house or that infamous box at the side of the rice paddy (family joke)...I always have a habitation to which I can run. I am not homeless. I have a secure and permanent residence. He, Himself, His name and Presence are my home. I am at home!

Productive Day

Today was productive...though I thought I should have gotten more done.

  • We're scheduled at McChord Sunday night.
  • I hope I have an appt with Sgt. A at 0730 on Monday.
  • I have a tourist passport appt scheduled for 10:30 on Monday.
  • We have discounted rooms from M-F night.
  • I've priced rental vans. Still thinking on that one. If we don't do that, I'll need to get insurance on the van before Sunday.
  • I did more paperwork for Well's Fargo.
  • Mom bought running shoes for Mike and Jared.
  • Mom and I took Stacia shopping for "pink running shoes" - hers were stolen.
  • We visited with Mom and Dad.
  • We got Krista home in time to get to work.
  • We are now going to go relax......and hit it all again in the a.m. - the list is still long. LOL

You KNOW you've been traveling too long when the laptop is called the "big screen" by your son. ::snort::

Tuesday -

I ran wild trying to get THINGS done. I spent a lot of time with Wells Fargo - trying to convince them that though I didn't know my mortgage number it was not fraud to attempt to pay it. ::snort:: I also got some shopping done and waited for Mike to call.

The kids....

Games....Bre played then went to run errands while Krista played....note the cool retro table from craig's list for $20 and the chairs were rescued from a building project for free by Dad. The girls painted them silver and black....and they are decorating the living/dining room with a retro/ black/family theme.

Krista started work last night. She'll be cleaning a medical office.

Today, I need to keep moving. Mom is out shopping for running shoes for Mike and Jared. I'm NOT replacing all that was taken. From what I hear there will be more organic options at the commissary than we had at GAFB...so I'm not replacing food - other than REAL salt. I'm also trying to replace only the things we NEED. I did buy a Canon Powershot SD1200 online....I can't wait for the insurance...need to get what I need and leave. LOL

I'm trying to line things up for a trip to WA and then prayerfully on to Japan. I've decided to wait and go up Sunday. I'm hoping I can get into McChord on Sunday night...if not I'll stay somewhere near the base and be at the door at 7:30 a.m. on Monday....then hopefully to SEA Passport Processsing by 11:00 on Monday....then wait.... Our plan is to stay in the SEA area until we fly out. The kids simply don't want to go up and back again. I don't blame them. I can think of better ways to spend the days before a long, international flight. The kids have to be with me to apply for passports.

Blessings Abound

To the Good Samaritan that sent my children a dino umbrella and a daisy umbrella...there was no way to tell WHO you were (though you certainly know Zander and Stacia)... thank you.....dreaming of using them in Japan.

AND to the dear friend who called Doubletree, thanks. I'm humbled that so many care about us. I'll call them and see what they offer.

Tricare - another story...but I think I'm going to be fine without a doc. I rarely see a doc anyway.

Josiah has already mailed Stacia's birth certificate. Our sons in San Angelo are God's provision for us. I did tear up after talking with each of them today...but I AM ready to say goodbye and get moving now. ::snort::

Still haven't talked with Mike. Still working other angles...I think it will be a long day.

Living all of life before the face of God...

Things are Happening....

Bre's Interviews - Sunday Pastor Gary talked about what to do when you are "Living in the Handbasket". He used Elijah and the Widow as his text. One point he made, which I'd never caught before, was that God had already commanded the widow to provide for Elijah before Elijah showed up and asked. Bre felt God encouraging her that He had already told someone to provide her job for her. She walked out of church and had the text message for the interviews.

You need to know the girls KNOW how to work this job hunt thing. I've been very impressed. They've gone in and asked for applications. Gone back in to turn them in. Gone again to ask if they can provide any other info. Passed out resumes. They've sent thank you notes to those who interviewed them. Bre walked into the Taco Bell interview and the General Manager said, "You have a job." It seems that last week when Bre went in to check on her application she spoke to the General Manager and her supervisor was there too. He told this General Manager to hire Bre or he would. ::snort:: Cool. Then Bre went to the Staple's interview. She had told them she wanted to attend the 8:30 service on Sunday. They were snotty and insisted she had to work starting early...and couldn't come in at 11:00. They appeared put out that Bre wouldn't budge. I was proud of Bre for sticking to her guns. She said it's easier knowing she had the Taco Bell job. God provided both girls jobs within 12 days in a county with a 15% unemployment rate. Yes, they are minimum wage jobs, but that's o.k. It will help them get through college.

Nate and Heather - My brother and his wife left today. They'll visit her family in TX and then fly on to their new home in China. Please do pray for safe and UNEVENTFUL travel for them.

OUR Saga - After 8 days, Stacia's birth certificate had not arrived in WA. Sgt. thought we should wait a bit longer. I KNOW the ladies at Tom Green County did what they said they would do - that's the TEXAS way. I talked to the lady who handles these things this a.m. They KNOW me now. They do not allow you to order certificates online...can't even pay my utility bill online... so they've had several conversations with me. This a.m. they hadn't received Stacia's certificate back, but said (against policy) they'd let Jamin or Josiah pick up new copies...they'd give them to them for free, because they know I had ordered them. They were to ask for a specific lady. Josiah reports he has the certificates in hand. They had come to the office right after I talked to Debbie on the phone. He's sending them via UPS overnight. He's sending them to ME - HERE - in C/O Bre, Krista and Jared so SOMEONE will be able to sign for them and I'll hand carry it to the Sgt.

There is lots to do today...check on hotels, rental vans, meds, shop, pack, hotels in Tokyo, fill out tourist passport applications, and figure out if I should go to SEA on Thursday or wait until Monday. If I go up Monday, we have a full week to get tourist passports and fly out before the weekend.....if I go up Thursday we may end up sitting through the weekend, paying for hotel living and not able to do any business. Guess we'll probably head up next Monday...but will talk to Mike before I decide.

Lots of praises today...but a few prayer requests....

  • Safe arrival of Stacia's birth certificate
  • My health - no more details forthcoming, but I need healing and I don't want to mess with the tri-care while traveling thing.
  • Mike is in the midst of a week of newcomer briefings...pray he enjoys and learns much.
  • I have a zillion details to remember and take care of.
  • Quick granting of tourist passports
  • Housing for our family that will bless us, bless our neighbors and bless those to whom we seek to minister - we don't care if it's off base or on, we don't care if it's a 4 plex or a double apartment...we just want a few walls and a front door.
