Zander's Choice

This is Zander's all-time favorite book. I must have done this one 20 times this week! I'm not sure if it's the rhyming or the way he can anticipate the next word...but suddenly this is bigger than the Duanne Gish Dinosaur book. {g}

Stacia Breakdances

My enterprising young men discovered that Stacia totally loves the newest Toby Mac CD. I came in from an errand and found the music blaring and Stacia “dancing”. She’s a hoot. We put the CD in for Mike to observe today. She starts on her back kicking her feet, then she rolls over, shakes her head side to side, kicks, wiggles, does mini-push ups – it’s HILARIOUS!

Our Bird

This little guy has been enjoying our feeder. Most of the birds are Doves or Grackles….we aren’t quite sure what this one is – being totally bird illiterates…but we are learning…..

FRESH PRODUCE!!!

When we lived in San Antonio I ran a weekly produce co-op. I did it very simply…everyone bought a “share”. I went to the Produce Terminal and bought as many cases of fruit as I could and then sorted it into equal shares back home. People bought 1 – 4 shares….. There wasn’t much say in what they got. I listened and bought what I could but you got what you got.

This co-op is a bit different. This was only the first week so it was chaotic for those setting it up; but I’m thrilled. {G} They let everyone order exactly what they wanted:“5 lbs of Pink Lady” and “2 lbs of Roma tomatoes”. This makes so much more work for THEM but such wonderful choices for us. The truck doesn’t deliver in our town so it was quite late by the time we got our things. During our three years in Alaska we really missed the abundance of fresh produce that we were used to. It was so FUN to bring in the cases and boxes of produce last night and see everyone gather around and eat up. One funny thing is that I didn’t realize they liked kiwis but a friend wanted 10 so I bought them for her. 2 of her kiwis went missing.

For the children yesterday was especially great because I kept 4 of Adrienne’s boys while she drove out to get the produce. Everyone was great…they had a lot of fun. I was a bit unnerved by the amount of activity to track. Once I realized I should just grab a book and sit in the living room…..all the activity would eventually swirl around me – we were fine. It was COLD yesterday so we had to think of inside things to do. Yes, it WAS cold and is today!!!! We even have frost outside this a.m.

Here are some pictures of the fun.
