blog comments - Once again I'll answer a bunch of things right here....

De'Etta, thanks for the book review. I've just oredered Three by Ted Dekker and am hoping I like him. These books look intriguing. Which book should I read first?

Kelly, I've not read any other books by Ted Dekker.....In the Myrtyr Song series the first one written is "Heaven's Wager" and then "When Heaven Weeps" and the last one is "Thunder of Heaven". The publisher says they can be read in any order. He also says that you should read "The Myrtyr's Song" (newly published)first...but I'm hearing mixed review on that book. Helen is a main character in both HW and WHW.....WHW is her early life....hard to say which to read first. LOL I always like to read in the order a series is written....

For Google Image, just go to Google.com like normal. Then click on the "image" link.

Jen in MO - DUH! I never even read all the little things to the top of the google search engine. I have now. LOL

Lemme work on it and see what I can do for you K? Which blog do you like better?
Jen in AZ - I love both your blogs...I'm a country girl at heart. {G} I'm working on a new idea for a second blog now - but I'm not sure I have the time for it. I was thinking of a seperate one for more indepth book reviews and discussions of the books....I'm currently reading *The Age Of Opportunity* and keep thinking "I need to find time to share that - this is good" but never find the time. I'm not sure how having a seperate blog would help - so I may never do it. LOL

Renee still praying as you prepare to move to Germany.

Oh! What do you use for sweetener in your homemade lemonade? I make it all the time, but I hate the amount of sugar required.

I'll try to post the recipe soon. It's one a local friend, Heather, gave me. She uses Agave nectar but I didn't have any and so I used honey. It was good. It was probably strange as I seem to be the only one drinking it.....

Wow...eggs, eh? What do you do with unfertilized quail eggs?

I have no clue at all. Mom reminded me that they are a delicacy in Asia.
This and That

Jamin made another $50 towards the Mission Trip. He also earned another “regular” lawn customer. {G}

Our fridge in the garage froze everything in it. Milk, lettuce, cantaloupe etc. So….I froze the cantaloupe and honey dews and am using them in smoothies. I make popsicles out of the smoothies and they’ve been great with all the sore throats around here. I have one of those Pampered Chef ice shavers. I can only find one of the little round containers that you freeze your liquid in. I was SURE I had more. I’ve solved the problem by freezing smoothies in it too, popping the smoothie cube out when it is frozen, and storing the cubes in a Ziploc. This allows me to get a LOT of frozen smoothies for a nice summer day treat.

Since all my lettuce was frozen I needed to buy lettuce. I gave up on Sam’s lettuce long ago. They only had iceberg and bagged salads….but this week they had an ORGANIC spring mix of greens. It has been so nice not to have to wash or chop lettuce. I noticed they also have ORGANIC baby carrots in the 5 lb bag. I may buy these from Sam’s in the future.

I’ve also been drying a lot of fruit this week. I’m not sure I like the bananas but Porshe does so I can always give them to her. {G} The dried pineapple is WONDERFUL. It could pass for candy. Apples are always good. I’m not sure about the nectarines but Mike says they taste like fruit rolls ups. Ours had a short window – and I’d gotten ½ a case so we need to eat a lot of them FAST. I’ve been using them in smoothies but will dry a bunch of them tomorrow.

I made “Fiddle Faddle” this afternoon. Both Jamin and Jared say it is good. Jamin say’s its addictive and Nolan says it tastes “like that popcorn in a box that we used to eat”. This is high praise from my boys. I also made some peanut butter popcorn. I was going for the taste that you can get at Alaska Wild Berry in Anchorage….but it is chewier or something. I’ll have to keep playing with that one. I also downloaded a recipe for Chocolate popcorn. I have 5 lbs of organic popcorn to use up, and lots of nuts, almonds, and a seed….The great thing is that I made the “Fiddle Faddle” with honey and sucanat….I think the Rapadura will work just fine when I get it.

Rascalina definitely has TWO eggs tonight….Mom, we may have to find an Asian store to sell them too. Jamin is contemplating an omelet. The idea makes me sick…but I won’t transfer my phobias to the kids.

We watched “Don’t Raise the Bridge Lower the River” tonight. It’s an older Jerry Lewis movie. I don’t think it was one of our favorites. We are supposed to get two more Netflix movies tomorrow.

Tomorrow is Krista’s 19th birthday! Wow – time flies. She called and is done with finals etc. They travel to Boston on the 9th – Bre’s 21st birthday! Stacia went to bed about 5 minutes ago and I need to follow. Until she is sleeping again I need to sleep on her schedule. I’m wearing out and that usually brings on a migraine. I don’t need that at this point.
MARK GOETZ

Received this prayer request and wanted to post it here as I know that many of you are familiar with Precept Ministries. This is originally sent by Jan Priddy of Precept Ministries...a workshop leader and trainer....Jack and Kay here are Jack and Kay Arthur.

~*~*~*~

Because we value your prayers and because you co-labor with us and because we think of you as family, we are asking you to join us at the throne of grace on behalf of Mark Goetz, Jack and Kay's middle son. Mark was taken to the hospital on Sunday and it was determined that he had a huge blood clot on his brain. Emergency surgery was performed immediately. This is his first day out of an induced coma he was put into so his brain could rest. Only the One who is called the Alpha and the Omega knows the outcome of this life experience for Mark. Jack, Kay and the staff are resting in the knowledge of God's sovereignty and in the sufficiency of His grace.

We are asking you to pray that God will be glorified in this situation. We know that pain and suffering in life are no respecter of persons. It is how believers respond in these situations that point to a good God and bring Him glory.

The morning before Mark's emergency experience, Kay had been in Psalm 61 and 62. You might want to read it and note the repeated word "only" in Psalm 62. It is God 'ONLY' because He is absolutely sufficient. Pray that Mark's wife Leslie and their sons John and Ryan and daughter Alexandra will continue to experience the comfort that He only can give. Pray all will be continually gripped by His sovereignty and the peace of His promises.

Please pray for the Ministry and the staff as we learn to lean entirely upon the grace of God.

We think of a poem that has ministered to many over the years, and we so want the truth of this poem to become reality in each one of our lives.

My Father's way may twist and turn,
My heart may throb and ache.
But in my soul I'm glad I know,
He maketh no mistake.
My cherished plans may go astray,
My hopes may fade away.
But still I'll trust my Lord to lead
For He doth know the way.
Tho' night be dark and it may seem
That day will never break;
I'll pin my faith, my all in Him,
He maketh no mistake.
There's so much now
I cannot see,
My eyesight's far too dim;
But come what may,
I'll simply trust
And leave it all to Him.
For By and By the Mist will lift
And plain it all He'll make.Through all the way,
Tho' dark to me,
He made not one mistake.
UPDATE FROM THE HOME OF THE PERPETUALLY ILL

We got so concerned we called the doc last night about Stacia. Here’s his diagnosis. Don’t bring her in unless her fever reaches 105* consistently. It’s o.k. to bounce between 102 – 105* Alternate Ibuprofen and Tylenol every 3 hours to keep it as low as possible. This can be done for WEEKS???? Since my experience with an uncle who destroyed his liver and died from prolonged Tylenol use this is not a drug we often use…but we are. If she seizes again I should call them back. Continue everything I’m doing. There is a virus going around with sore throats, nausea and high fevers. Since we’ve had 5 sick since the weekend it’s a safe bet we caught the virus and that this isn’t bacterial. The good news is that it seems to last 3 days max. The doc said not to worry if she has the fever for 2 weeks – that this is the way her body “cooks the virus”. I think 2 weeks of meds every three hours is a bit long…..I’m prepared to wait another 2 days before I storm the pediatrician office. It was NOT Dr. Carroll who talked with me. However – they know the bug that is going around and how it is responding. What I really wanted to hear was, “Don’t have to bring her in automatically with 103* temp and it is fine to continue the meds for another day or so”.

Nolan began throwing up this a.m. and still has a slight sore throat but NO fever. Jared and Jamin have NOT been reinfected (always a chance in a large family). Arielle feels fine. Stacia is still very hot but doesn’t pull or tug on anything. I’m still nauseated and feverish…but not bad. Mike and Josiah haven’t caught this and we’re trying to keep it that way….my house smells like Lysol.

Thanks for all the personal emails – I’ll try to answer them later today or tomorrow….we’ll see how the day shapes up. Know that we greatly appreciate your prayers, comments and friendships.

Ah – I no longer have a local nurse friend to call and have to resort to “after hour lines” and “ask a nurses”…but I do have two friends who are pharmacists and will be asking how long they would do this Tylenol/ibuprofen thing for THEIR kids and grandbabies. LOL
