Matters of the Heart

Deb, a local friend, told her 3rd graders that Dandelions are weeds. Ah, the trauma. My little ones are not enlightened DOD students. ::snort:: They aren't aware of this sad fact yet. I'm feeling the aging of my baby....and I'm quite content to continue collecting bouquets of Dandelions.

"Humph! Zander said, "don't know why Dad BUYS flowers for you when there are lots of free flowers he could get you everywhere." ::snort::

The fun bottle from Saturday's outing makes the perfect Dandelion vase - marble and all. Check out the little blue glass float in the basket. THAT is a float, that Twyla, found on the BEACH. I want to find floats....and I will some day...but my very first float was given to me by Twyla...and I have to guard it very carefully...from all manner of thieves. ::wink Twyla::

Sunday - Hanami

Yes, I know it's Wednesday....but I need to document Sunday...and I need a Human Video photo, though there IS a video below...because when I turn this into a family book....the videos won't load and we'll want a photo.

We rose early and went to the 0800 service. Jared and the Cross Training Human Video Team preformed "Love Song" in the service.

Our Chapel - like the nose on the side of the bldg? ::snort::

This being our first Cherry Blossom year, we thought THIS was pretty...today we know differently...though we did take a lot of photos on Sunday - in case. One good rain or wind storm and the blossoms go away.  The base is beautiful when the trees begin to bloom. Several avenues are lined with trees. Akiko told us it was the prettiest place in Misawa to go....but now we've found Liberty Park is spectacular. LOL

Anyone know what these are?

Sunday Evening we went to a Hanami (Flower Viewing)  Party.  This was a combined birthday party for Mary and her daughter Alicia. It was fun. We'd been planning to go to the parks at night so this worked out perfectly.  I think most of Misawa was out eating, playing, drinking and viewing the blossoms...enjoying Golden Week.

This is where Stacia fell off the swing.....and Jared discovered that the park benches have lights on them (thought it doesn't show well in this photo).

This is also the day we realized that the oven was beyond Rodney or Jared or my ability to fix. Our transformer didn't help it.

Stacia's Daddy

Stacia was found in a recliner upstairs. She was sniffy an old cologne bottle. "Mmmmm.....smells like my daddy." She's right. I know how she feels.  I saved the bottle.

That is an owie - not chocolate - she fell out of a swing and landed on her face (forward is messed up too).

Gorgeous Day in Misawa

I know the sun is rising earlier. I'm up at 4:45 instead of 5 a.m.  Zander is up at 5:30 instead of 6:00.....everyone is up early....where did MY EARLY MORNING QUIET HOURS GO????? I've been staying up until mid-night to find them - but it isn't working well.  I can't go much longer on 4 or 5 hours of sleep. I had the same trouble with the early (and late) light in AK - summer was tougher for me than winter.

Check this out - 61*, wind no more than 6 mph, no rain...or SNOW ::snort:: I think this forecast means "do school early as they're up, hang the laundry (it probably will be there when you return),  and head to the park."  Stars and Stripes predicts 68* today....

A few thoughts - what does "Tree, Kim, Soil, Day, Month, Fire" mean when given as days of the week? ::snort::

It would be easy to be lulled into a sense that SPRING IS HERE - BRING ON SUMMER!!!! But locals are telling me that May will be beautiful and June will be RAINY.

We are in a full court press of school - and need to continue that - but I need to remember that we'll have lots of inside time in June - different than say TX.  I will remember to add "outside time" to our lives.  Today, we go hunt for Cherry Blossoms in full bloom.

BTW - you know those dust storms I write about? We have a field directly behind our house....and, as you know, fields and fields across from the subdivision. You'll have to trust me on this - but THIS is the dust that blew in (through closed doors) in ONE day.  It's the sliding door off our dining room.

Zander's Observations

Oh my word...the things you learn listening to your kids work on a puzzle...had to come blog before I forget.

Zander - "The reason Japanese wear those white things on their mouth is to prove they're  Japanese." ::snort::

Jared - "No, Zander, they were them so they don't get American diseases."

Zander - "So, if they catch American diseases would they know the true God?"

Jared - "No, Zander. Getting them all sick won't make them Christian."

Zander - "Hmmm....there has to be a way for them to know about the One True God."

Jared in the rear - in black.  This was at the 0800 service. Space was tight. Mr Director, is glad to have this video to critique their performance.

The Way My "Garden" Grows

The Cherry Blossoms on base today were AMAZING. Alicia was right! They were "nothing" on Sunday. Wow. The sad, sad truth is that I didn't have a memory card in my camera. Maybe I'll catch some tomorrow.

We did school.  Finished another missionary biography. I'm going to start one next where they live a long and happy life.

Several of us met to finalize plans on the upcoming Women's retreat. Everyone has such great ideas. This is going to be wonderful. Do be praying for the worship leader and I...we want anointing....God's words for us for this time.

Today was absolutely beautiful...and the wind was manageable. Wow - the DIRT all over our windows, on our patio and anything left outside, is amazing  from yesterday's wind storm.

Four days without talking to Michael.

We got a new-to-us oven. It's my new trick. If you don't want to clean an appliance, call FMO out on a service call. LOL  The man told me that I need to call FMO and ask for a transformer because it will work better. Evidently, they aren't standard here. WE didn't have one.

I weeded the front yard and started watering.

I've been bringing my plants in every  night and when we get terrible wind....Look at what I have now....

A strawberry!!!! Maybe we'll get more than one! Now I'm obsessing about CROWS.

Teeny tiny broccoli on all three plants...

But my lettuce....good grief. I have no clue what THAT is. I thought it said lettuce...but I'm not so sure now...and it's crowding out my LETTUCE....I was so dreaming of fresh salads...lots of green leaf lettuce under the monster plant. I can't decide if I should uproot it and plant my lettuce or leave it and see what it grows into. LOL
