The Best Laid Plans...

I'd no sooner laid my head on the pillow last night at 10:30 than Stacia woke up. She doesn't want to sleep in bed with me, she doesn't want to sleep, she wants to sit in a recliner or here at the computer....I would put her in the crib but that is no longer a safe option since she climbs out....and crashes.

I've realized this a.m. (2:30) that it must be the fabled mother's curse. ::snort:: My Mom tells stories of how she had to sleep with me in the rocker and what a terrible teether and ill child I was....and now I have one. It took nine...but I finally have a child as awful at teething as I was....of course MOM was 20 when she dealt with me...and I'm 40 something.....can't quite remember any longer...43?

Ah well - she IS getting better...sleep well come again...maybe still this a.m. LOL
Thursday -

Cy bought a new, for him, Toby Mac CD - "Momentum". He's "really likin it".

Jamin and Jared had House of Faith today.

I drove Adrienne to pick up her car and visited for a bit in the parking lot of HoF while we waited for the boys to show up. That was fun.

School - we are enjoying a book we are reading on Norman Rockwell. This is making me think I need to get a big book of Norman Rockwell prints like Chuck and Kathy in OR had...or buy a few prints of paintings like my Mom has...LOL We watched a netflix movie - *American Experience: The Orphan Trains*.

Parenting - Stacia is still "off" but certainly better.

Kitchen - tried another pie crust again - this time for Chicken Pot Pie. It was better but I'm not sure I'll ever get whole wheat pie crust to be as good as my previous pie crusts. LOL I'll keep trying.

Jared and Jamin read chapters from Peter Pan for us tonight. Arielle and I continue working on the names from last year's Thanksgiving celebration. We will NOT let Zander get loose with a pen this year. LOL It was fun to embroider Nolan's name and see the improvement he's made in a year. Last year it was big letters and MoAn....this year I'm sure he'll get it closer....

We had a good laugh about Mrs. Darling rummaging in her children's minds after they went to sleep...think I'll go try some rummaging.

Stacia is in bed...and I'm going to head there too.
PARENTING/DISCIPLINE IN PROVERBS - Chapter 9

Wisdom's Call and Description continues

9:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

~The goal of all my interactions with my children is to create fertile ground for the Holy Spirit to lead my children into a relationship where they fear the Lord and intimately KNOW the HOLY ONE!

Father, forgive me for the actions and heart attitudes I harbor that make it hard for my children to trust in you. May my heart be such that my parenting will mirror Your dealings with Your children and make it easy for my children to embrace you.
PARENTING/DISCIPLINE IN PROVERBS - Chapter 8

Wisdom's Call - General theme of the chapter.

8:35- 36 "For he who finds me (wisdom) finds life and obtains favor from the Lord. But he who sins against me (wisdom) injures himself; all those who hate me love death."

~My parenting must illustrate Godly wisdom

~If I am sinning against wisdom I will not find favor from the Lord in my parenting (or any other area of life) and I will injure myself and my children.

~If the Holy Spirit convicts me that a part of my parenting is unwise or out of step with the nature of God I must STOP (cease and desist) immediately.
Books, Book, BOOKS

I received *The Grapes of Math* a living math book on mind-stretching math riddles from PBS today.

We also received three boxes of book closeout books. I got a lot of "mathstart" books, several great looking books on Charles Lindbergh, a few for reading in school and a fun flower book by Ruth Heller. I also received a Rex Stout book I've not read and a couple of Ted Dekker Christmas stories.

The hardest part of receiving all the books is that the Bobbesy Twin books arrived...and I'm having a terrible time not giving them to Arielle and Nolan NOW. How far away is Christmas???? OH - there is also an audio book *Grace Based Parenting* that I can listen to now that I'm done with the bulk of that parenting study. LOL
We have a diagnosis...

As all good military families we have a copies of *Take Care of Yourself* and *Take Care of Your Child*. I suspect these are given to us so that we don't overrun the clinics by taking advantage of our *free* medical care. BTW it's not *free* - it's an employment benefit and is EARNED....anyWAY.....

Stacis is COVERED in little red dots today....I believe she has roseola. She has followed the classic course in the book and they say "home treatment" is our option. They also say it's contagious when they have the fever. Jared (12 yo) is paranoid about getting it...and jumping away from her when she walks in. She obviously thinks something is very strange with him. I've explained that as near as I can tell you are not contagious with the rash but with the fever.....

She didn't sleep all night again last night....{sigh} but no fever today at all. One "i" tooth popping through. 3 still bulging.

I got the bills paid, package wrapped and we'll work on school this afternoon...if I don't fall asleep. LOL
Ok, you can't really see the dots on her back and arms...but folks love pictures and this is the only thing happening in our home right now. ::snort:: BTW she THINKS we are all CRAZY....Jared backing away from her, Mom wanting pictures of her back...what next????
AIRLINE TICKETS

We do not live on the beaten path.....I need to find tickets for the girls to come home for Christmas. What companies do you all use for this? I've tried Cheaptickets.com and priceline.com. I can use airline miles and fly them to a major city 5 hours away - 40K miles per ticket....

Anyone have any other options you've used to find reasonable airline tickets....
