This Week's Book Giveaway

If you are a participant in the summer reading challenge (it's not to late to join), you are eligible for this random drawing. Simply leave a comment and let me know which book you'd like. You'll need to give me a way to contact you so that we can exchange addresses off blog. I'll draw winners on Wednesday and you'll have until next Saturday to get me your address before these books find a new home at Paperback Swap.

*The Well Trained Mind* by Jessie Wise and Susan Wise Bauer. This is a brand new copy. It's a thick book that promises to enable you to instruct your child from preschool through high school in all levels of reading, writing, history, geography, mathematics, science, foreign languages, rhetoric, logic, art, and music. I couldn't get into it....I obviously need to do some remedial training of my mind. ::snort::

*How to Save Money Every Day* by Ellie Kay. This is also a new copy, though there is a brief message written in it to me. From the cover, "Ellie Kay first gained fame by teaching families everywhere how to painlessly save big bucks each week on groceries and household supplies - and have a bounty to share. Now, with her signature humor and practical creativity, she reveals simple ways to save money each and every day!" Ellie was a guest at a OSC/PWOC event while I was in Alaska. I had a fun day traveling to Seward with her and Kelly....this was a gracious gift from Ellie, but the book simply didn't flip my switch ::blush::. I heard her speak about how to save $ and give the savings away and it was wonderful. OK a humorous story. While we were out, we found a shop with great snowmen. They were clearanced, I bought a LOT of them. Ellie congratulated me on "saving every day".....but over the years as I've given them away, used them as bunko prizes, given them out at Christmas exchanges, and decorated with them, I've often thought that I'm not sure it's in MY budget plan to be able to SPEND every day to SAVE every day....and certainly one could easily buy MORE than they need in order to SAVE MORE. . . ::snort:: or at least one like me can obviously do so. Ellie is hilarious and I'm betting this will be a fun read.....
Worshipping at the Shrine of Microsoft.....

She fell asleep right there....never fear she woke up 15 minutes later and stayed up until 11 p.m. ::snort::
FREEZE TAG

Do you remember playing tag at night as a child? Why has our society lost this practice? Great fun....and the closest I came to doing something positive for my "freezer challenge" this week. ::snort::
Thursday night we had a gorgeous rainbow BEFORE we had rain.....
I'll have to check the Nikon - Mike went running off with it when he got home from work.....maybe he got some better photos...
