Porta Squatties & Other Bathroom Adventures

This trip will be remembered for many things. ONE of the things I will remember are the bathroom adventures.  (Photos compliments of the marvel of google).

I was TIRED on Sunday. Saturday had been a full day of W.I.L.D. training.  Several of us had to catch the first shuttle from Dragon Hill Lodge to Incheon airport.  That's all I can say. I entered the airplane bathroom...chuckling to myself, as I always do, about Nate's airplane stories......

I did notice the bathroom was dark.....rather dark really.

The door OPENED...and there I was on full display....and there was a mortified Asia gentleman and a line. It seems I'd forgotten

...to slide the latch - which turns on the light too.

On the Shinkansen ride home.....I'd just checked the lock, maneuvered into said location, starting to sit when the train took off....and I fell forward and bonked my head.

Back in Misawa, Arielle discovered there are such things as "Porta Squatties".....

Travel Adventures

I'll have to write more about W.I.L.D. in Seoul and Tokyo tomorrow.

For now...I woke up this a.m. and my right arm HURT. I couldn't figure it out all day....until I saw the photos....

This is one set of stairs....and I hauled my ONE suitcase (52.5 lbs) up and down several sets of these...on and off subways and trains...I was very relieved when we found these...

Did I say "we"? I was happy to have a traveling companion on the way home. One who had been at Tokyo Station before. Renee, was a great traveling partner. SHE can read maps...but *I* know how to say things like "Bueno Ecki wa doco desu ka?"....and it WORKED....we made it home.

I love traveling on the subways and trains. The adventure of trying to navigate the system without the benefit of being able to fully understand the signs (or the process) is great fun.

From WILD Japan
We took a bus shuttle, a couple subways, the Shinkansen (bullet train) and a commuter train, saved big bucks and enjoyed some humor along the way.

It's good to be home.
