It's a Birthday Day

Nolan turns 13 today! Wow....time is flying...first Jared turned 18 and now this. 2012 is shaping up to be a milestone year in our family.

Ice cream cake is in the freezer.....he's requested CHICKEN LEGS (I always buy the ONLY organic meat at the commissary - chicken breasts), garlic biscuits, corn and tortellini. He surprised me a bit as most often the boys request things like VIKINGS or Papa Geno's or Karinbas..... I'm looking forward to a leisurely day at home and in the kitchen. Good choice, Nolan.

13! Nolan is really a young man. We've watched the progression over the past year with awe. He's gentle and kind and strong and helpful. He's quick to offer me help at home and with the younger ones.  Five years left with this young man in our home - I plan to make them count.

Happy Birthday, Nolan.

Base Day

I think, through the winter, Tuesdays will be our "base day." 


We go in with Michael and have PWOC.  Nolan and Arielle man the homeschool room and Stacia attends it. I hang out with my ladies. 


We followed PWOC with a PWOC board meeting. These are usually scheduled for Thursdays but we were snowed out last week. Michael took the kids to lunch while we met. 


Nolan went to  drama (where he discovered he has to SING his parts in an upcoming play). 


While Nolan dramatized....Arielle, Stacia and I went to the post office, shared a girls' treat, went birthday shopping for Nolan and Zander, and went commissary shopping. 

Stacia 800 cal gut buster - we had the 330 cal ones

Back at home I made BBQ meatballs  (turkey), rice, muffins, salad and fruit. We read Ps 18, talked about things we were thankful for and headed to bed. A full day.

Busted!

Yuuki has taken over the reading nook at the top of our stairs! She loves to perch on the top of the recliner and watch the kids playing...or if we are gone, watch for us to come home.

Snowy Saturday

Another strangely lazy day in our home. 


Jared had to work. Michael took him in and stayed in to get a bit of work done. 


The kids did what kids are apt to do....

Body Sledding anyone?

Michael came home and we visited. I worked on a talk I'll be giving at MOPS. The kids continued to play. 

Michael and I went to base early so we could birthday shop for Nolan and Zander. We enjoyed dinner before Jared called.  The night will be lazy; tomorrow will be full.

It's so cold that the clasp on Yuuki's stake out is frozen. It's not too much of a worry, she runs out and back in....fairly well marring my view of pristine snow. ::snort::

HOWEVER - when the CHILDREN are outside she whines and whimpers at the doors and windows until we take her outside.

Snow Day

Yes, being snowed in at HOME is truly a grace gift! 


We did school. 


I did a bit of admin stuff for PWOC - local and regional - not nearly enough. LOL 


The kids couldn't wait to get out in the snow. Today they built a tunnel and a cave to the side of the carport. I'll have to actually step OUTSIDE to get a photo. Yep - stayed INSIDE all day. 

I WAS productive inside!  I worked on a variety of chores - didn't make it to the deep house cleaning yet.  I  did get 2005 of this blog edited and ordered! It is a goal to get the blog printed this year. This is a start. I hope to have 2006 ready by next Friday night. I'm through February 2006 at this point.

Jared and Michael worked all day. They got home late, bringing groceries and pizza. 


We watched Courageous (which I brought back from VA). AWESOME movie! I'm still contemplating.
