Rainy Air Show

Michael LIVES for Air Shows. I have to admit this was a disappointing day for him, and I felt bad about it.  Saturday was GORGEOUS.....but today was not....

The first two years we were here there were quite a few "big names" at the show...and demo teams etc. Last year many cancelled after the earthquake..... This year was also a slow airshow...lots of wait time between planes....but it WAS a fun day to spend as a family, the Kids and Michael enjoyed their turkey legs (I enjoyed my veggie wrap)....and this was our FIRST EVER AIR SHOW IN THE RAIN...so it will be one that will live in our collective memory.

As always, I enjoy watching the crowd as much as the planes and was thrilled to see these photos.....

Michael did get some shots of the F-22...but I'm not sure which ones are "good" so I'll let him add them later.

Transitions, Beaches and Heirlooms

Michael went into the office for a few hours.

We gave our fish and tank and stuff away...passed it forward....to another home school family who will enjoy studying marine life as we did. This was a good time to do it as we knew we'd have to do it before we moved. This allowed us to take our second table down....it is now up in the boys' room.

This is the first time in over 10 years that we've had a SINGLE table. We've still not managed to eat a family meal with all of us home since Saturday so I can't report on the success of the transition. LOL

When Michael came home he was ready to go to the beach...but I didn't think I'd have time for that and to get ready and arrive early to help set up for the PWOC Kick off. Michael took the kids to the ocean.  Michael reports there were only five families at the beach on this warm Saturday. I guess the summer is nearing an end.....

We were happy for a sunny day to try out the new gear

Mackenzie came with us - the girls entertained themselves with thoughts of jaws and such.

What could she be doing?

Quite the fortress and we'll see how long it lasts

Meanwhile, I went to the PWOC Kick Off ~ Heirlooms. Everyone brought an "heirloom" dish to share. Kim's Grandmother's sweet potato dessert is a new favorite of mine.

Shannon spoke about Passing a legacy of belief on to the next generation. She talked about Remembering and Recounting....and it was very good. It tied in with PWOC's theme this year "Generation to Generation."   Shannon shared several Scriptures showing how God calls us to remember; two are Deut 5:15 and Joshua 4.  Ps. 136 showed a "timeline." She challenged us  to take some time right then and there and create our own timeline of faith to share. She talked about journaling and how that works for her. We each received a journal for the exercise.  I realized anew I need to make the blog (and my 5 journals) a priority. LOL

I found it funny that I read this verse after getting home....."This will be written for the generation to come, that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord." Ps 102:18.

I enjoyed helping the new team set up and clean up...and I enjoyed being a participant and not having the weight of a zillion details on my mind. It was good to sit and participate. I'm loving this year.

TGIF

Thursday

  • School - discovered we needed "glitter paint" for one of those craft projects
  • Stood in for Misawa's Titus 2 at a local PWOC board meeting
  • Enjoyed meeting with two gals to finish a study on 2 Peter
  • Tried to find glitter paint at Arts and Crafts - ended up buying glitter and glue
  • Worked on a bit of PWOC Regional ministry stuff
  • Michael worked real late. ::snort::
Friday
  • Fielded crazy emails from TMO saying we had 3 hours to claim Jared's household goods in TX or be charged for storage - it arrived about 2:30 a.m. in Japan and by the time I read it they'd put his stuff in storage. I am quite confident the four G men are going to set them straight.
  • School
  • Drafted some local documents for a PWOC president
  • Worked on a chapel project for the handsomest chaplain on staff
  • Spent quite a bit more time on Regional ministry projects
  • Made a gallon of pizza sauce and homemade pizzas for dinner (to include a vegan pizza)
  • Watched Minesota Cuke with the kids....
  • Michael got home at 7:30 p.m. I think that is early. ::snort::
Saturday
  • Not sure though I know Michael has to run in for a bit in the a.m. to catch someone
  • Play, housework, ministry work....what will it be? We shall see.

Misc Photos that Make me Smile

Michael found these online and asked me to order four sets....then we WAITED and hoped we'd still be able to go to the beach by the time they arrived.  The kids were happy to receive the surprise. Michael is a great dad.

He's a great husband too as he wages all our war on the moths, spiders and bugs in our home!

Zander continues to enjoy making sourdough pancakes

I discovered two mini-photographers got possesion of my camera when I loaded photos..... I sort of think this is clever! Maybe Zander will become a photographer!

Zander catches a shot of me with my protein drink at my side....this cubby is the hub of much of the extended ministry I do....gotta love technology...though I am THRILLED to have margin this year for more face to face socializing too!

Rainy Day

I find it very hard to get motivated when it's rainy....but we pushed through it.

I worked out, spent time with Jesus, journaled, blogged, taught school, made Lasagna for dinner (2/3 turkey and 1/3 vegan), got the rest of the gallons of spaghetti sauce ready for the freezer,  answered a few regional questions, tried to wrap by brain around a few more regional "thangs"....and we'll eat and relax tonight as Michael works late.  I think we need to define "working late" as the norm seems to be late....just so I KNOW if I'm trying to create a vegan dinner he will eat or if a green smoothie or salad will do it. ::snort::

OH - reading a book of  Japanese folk tales to the younger two. Woweee....we read about Ojisan (Gramps) and Obasan (Grams) and a sparrow. Obasan (Grams) cut the TONGUE out of the poor sparrows throat....my WORD. I'm wondering if the women will be the villains in all the stories. We might have to read a Disney tale to balance out the women as villain bias (you KNOW - Disney always makes the men the villains).

I  think the Vegan part looks BETTER....though it is a bit "thinner". The box said I should use 5 Cups of sauce and skip the boiling - but I don't think so....far too saucy and rubbery. LOL

Stacia Writes ANOTHER letter

You know the drill. She has a few more letters to write and I'm sure she's naturally learning to choose her words carefully and kindly - though this WASN'T a punishment. ::grin::  Today she wrote a letter for Arielle.  The letters are getting shorter...Maybe this will be the start of developing a bit of introspection. ::snort::

Hi,

You are very fun to me. And I love you. Thank you for letting me always play your games - NOW.

Love,
Stacia
