School Daze

The day got off to a late start as I had an early start at the Woman’s Imaging Center. {G}

Josiah has a light schedule this year. He volunteered to run to the library for me again. Thank God we don’t have daytime curfew here and he is able to run to the library alone. He took a box of books in and is sure to come home with another box.

Jamin continues to focus on dotting each “i” and crossing each “t”.

I decided it would be best if the littles and I simply worked on our story quilt. I LOVE this idea! Thanks again, Jodi. We’ll try to read a bit this afternoon.

Here’s some photos:

We’ve not figured out how we want to tie the squares. All the photos won’t upload.

Working diligently…

I just love this idea. Bessie and I are brainstorming and are going to try and come up with a way to incorporate this into what we are doing.

Kids are doing a great job!

They really had fun with this. I WISH that Arielle's squares would upload. Her's are "free hand". Nolan had me make templates for him to trace...but they turned out very nice. He had a hard time understanding why I'm always telling him to let his pencil "lean" but with the paint markers you want them straight up. LOL

I plan to let each child do a square each week....but really I'm wondering if it would be smarter to make two small quilts instead of one big one.....I'll have to think about it.

Looks GREAT! I love Zanders. You chose the colorful squares, I'm thinking I will do colorful ones next year. I was wondering how well the markers would show up on them and it looks very good. Hopefully you'll be able to upload some of Arielle's soon. I'm again having trouble with just a few pictures that won't upload here and there and it is very irritating! It's like, why does blogger like this picture but not that one?????

Speaking of the quilt. I saw the CUTEST book tonight at Borders. It's a pattern for 2 Lewis and Clark quilts.. one from the Bitteroot area and one from the Upper Missouri area. Hmmm.... I wonder if I can find someone interested in making that with us! It was REALLY REALLLY CUTE! I think I should post it on the TOG website as a fun activity for the L&C units.

Cindy,

Do you know the name of the book? It sounds cute. I'd post it on the TOG list...even the SHS list...it sounds like it would be a fun add on to whatever curriculum you use when you hit that unit.

I like this quilt because it is totally CHILD generated. I don't need projects where I'm doing the work....LOL This one even has ties so I don't have to stitch a thing. LOL

Jodi - I didn't even see any but the colorful ones...but I do like it.
