Teriyaki Steak Marinade

Courtesy of cooks.com

1/2 C orange juice
1/4 C soy sauce
2 lg garlic cloves pressed
1/2 tsp ginger powder
1 T sugar (rapadura or honey)
2 T Olive Oil (or whatever you want)

Combine and use for steak marinade or a beef kabob marinade. Marinate at least overnight. Marinating 2 - 3 days helps tenderize some cuts of beef. Barbecue to desired doneness.

I used this for 5 hours and it was still yummy. I think it would be great with chicken too. We all liked it.

That sounds great! Doug and I are going to the lakehouse at the end of the month for a weekend alone. Maybe I'll use that for our steaks.

Do you use rapadura in the same measurements as you would use sugar all the time? In baking as well? Just curious....My family might go into a revolt as they are already headed that direction with my trying to phase out as much "processed food" as possible. They feel a need to go to Taco Bell for a "fix" every once in a while.

Diann,

I ALLOW and encourage "outside fixes". That helps them stay on the program 6 days of the week....but some of them get bacon and ham everytime they eat out....some get soda etc. At HOME I don't serve those things.

Yes, rapadura is measured just like sugar. I think it has a toffe flavor. Some say it's molasses. I think it depends on the batch you get. LOL We do like it and we like it better than honey (which also has a distinctive flavor) in many of the things I make. I have to laugh because, for instance, my salad dressings are brown now etc....but everyone eats it. LOL
