Desperate Times call for Desperate Measures

I headed to the gym this a.m. only to discover the Toyota was completely iced over. I couldn't find an ice scraper and so used my military ID. ::snort:: The roads were a bit icy but there were no other drivers out so all in all it was an easy drive.

I made yogurt (and not sour milk) again. I doubled the honey and vanilla this time and won't do that again. I think I'll try Agave Nectar next time.

I was finally trying to come up with a dinner plan an execute it when I got two calls....JB Auto and Mike. Off I went to meet Mike and pick up our van.

It was 5:30 when I got home, Mike was stopping by the hospital to visit a few folks...and I still had the dinner problem.

I remembered that I had one last bag of spaghetti sauce in the freezer....and I had ordered a case of shells from co-op last month. I was a bit perplexed at why they had to be stored in the freezer.

Well - this will make a quick meal. BTW even ORGANIC freezer meals taste bland and yucky....but it was dinner....and I was desperate. I am STILL looking for big shells that are whole wheat or whole grain...any ideas? Not stuffed, dinner type shells - just the shells so I can stuff them myself. I would love to find the same thing in manicotti pasta.

It was wonderful to have Mike home tonight. He's been working some long hours preparing for a big inspection on base. We took advantage of having him home. I challenged them all to a game of Sorry and was promptly trounced.

School - lots of table school was done. A bit of couch school (I fell asleep).

You could use whole wheat lasagna noodles and roll them up with the filling. I wish they made large whole wheat shells too. I haven't tried the noodles with the stuffing, but I've seen that kind of thing with regular lasagna noodles.

That's so funny that you didn't know the shells you'd bought were heat and eat sorts of things! LOL

Diann - I was trying to stay away from having to roll up noodles...but I it's coming...after all - I GRIND MY OWN WHEAT AND MAKE YOGURT - WHAT COULD BE NEXT??? ::snort::

Jodi - they were really pretty gross I thought. Just like "real" TV dinners. LOL

BTW - in case anyone wonders how I can make these mistakes...we don't have a catalog. We have a spread sheet and I sort of guess from the titles what I'll be getting....if I have TIME I go to the manufacturer's page and look up the item but.....when in a hurry these things happen....I've also gotten BIG amounts of peanut butter. LOL

LOL.. I don't know how you do it all.... never mind trying to answer I know it's an ongoing dialog (LOL). I'll pretend you're not contemplating making your own noodles. My kids LOVE to make noodles with their grandma and they really do taste better.
