Other than that TWO fun things today.....Japanese garden shop and dreams..... I'll blog that later..... and ....JAPAN DAY! This is an amazingly fun day on the base. There were 600+ Japanese vendors. They demonstarted the tea ceremony, all sorts of arts, musical insturments, dance, singing, kite making, kimono dressing, and on and on....all for free. Great day! Here are a "few photos" and really - it is just a few. Mike check out the album online.
It's always fun to have them decide how to translate our names. On the left is my name in Katakana... Dee (top several marks) E - ta Then we got to try....
A-le-tsu wasn't totally happy with his attempts and has been practicing all afternoon. A new obsession. He may well learn katakana instead of reading while Mike is gone. ::snort::
Stacia's always a hit - but her name gave problems.....THEN she kept reaching for the brush with her left hand. They kept saying, "We paint with our right hand." She kept switching it to her left when they gave it to her. I guess she really IS LEFT HANDED. ::snort:: They finally moved everything around and tried to help her from the left.
Have you ever seen sand art like THIS? Gorgeous!
All these are made from PRESSED FLOWERS!

Oh how fun! (And free!)
I think the stringed instrument is a samisen.
Great timing - something fun to do while everyone is adjusting.
It looks like you had lots of fun.
Love you
Mike
PS Just met up with Steve C. He also is enroute.
Samisen - that's it!
Mike - the USAF is far too small. Can't believe you are meeting up with chaplains from other bases as you travel. LOL
Sis:
Looks like presentations were great. Neat that you all had something to focus on just now. Seems like you will never lack for something new to learn etc..... PTL for friends enroute..... praying for you all.
love/prayers -- Mom T.
"Human video" is kabuki, (I suppose.) Cracked me up that you called it a human video! Good description! Kabuki is a couple thousand years older than the modern day human videos, tho! :)
