It would appear that the Air Force gives and the Air Force takes away. LOL
Months ago we were told that our chapel staff would be cut by 30-40%. We were also told that we had lost all appropriated funding to run chapel programs. This meant that we went from a staff of 5 chaplains to 3. We’ve begun to feel the cuts as one chaplain moved and was not replaced.
THEN we heard a rumor that the generals had told the powers that cut “don’t cut our chaplains”. The rumor continued that it had been decided that the chaplaincy would only be cut by 10% - the overages. We had no overages at our base. We began to hope that we would soon be back at 5 chaplains……this week we heard that we are getting someone to replace the chaplain who left….so it’s true….the Air Force took and now the Air Force is giving. We are all excited to have the extra man power coming back because the mission of this base with students and parish was to big for 3 chaplains to handle (especially when at least one is sure to be deployed these days).

The big event at our home Tuesday was a rip-roaring game of Axis and Allies. It appears that this is the first time the boys have EVER finished the game. Their games usually last 8 hours and longer. This game “only” took 4 ½ hours. And yes…the Allies won again.
We had the time for a long leisurely game because we were watching Steven and Mikey as their father had surgery. We love this family. They are the only other family in the chapel right now with young men. We are waiting to see who the PCS season brings in.
For dinner I headed everyone over to Mr. Gatti’s…..all you can eat and games and bumper cars to use up excess energy.
It’s been HOT here…like 103* hot….to hot to do much of anything….
Though Jamin mowed a lawn yesterday…..and today left at 6:25 a.m. to go help John repair his barn.
For those who have prayed for my friend Adrienne’s 2 yo and her broken leg: she now sports a hot pink cast – so things should get easier any time.

The Co-OP FIASCO DIET – guaranteed to loose 2 lbs a week…..or your money back?
Monday – some days are just MONDAYS. {G}
Somehow Tucson Cooperative/Shop Natural lost our order. I send it online. It was ONLINE last week. I thought I was loosing my mind but two other members remember it being there too. When I didn’t get a call this weekend about what time to expect the truck tonight – I began to worry. I checked online and our order was no longer there. I called Shop Natural and they said they didn’t have any record of any order…..meanwhile I HAVE the invoices!!!! So at one time they must have had it…..but somewhere there obviously was a computer glitch. They told me that they could get our things on a truck tomorrow to Fort Stockton…but I would need to drive 150 miles to pick it up…and I don’t have the time to do this…nor the $$$ for gas. LOL This is a bummer. I personally had purchased things for the trip to make traveling with Zander easier. I guess we’ll simply have to find health food stores between here and Spokane…but really I think the farther west you go the bigger the organic market is.
I spent a good part of the day calling everyone to tell them not to come here tonight to get food.
I tried to wash diapers and the machine wouldn’t work….Josiah finally got it working. He also fixed my dishwasher but we discovered at dinner that it isn’t working right either.
Jamin is working for the folks that are housing our garden. Unfortunately, for us all, they are moving to Dallas in about 3 weeks. They have a lovely home and I’d love to buy out there…but no matter how I try to envision working it – we wouldn’t fit…unless we built an apartment in their barn…..but since we only plan to be here two more years it isn’t realistic to even attempt to buy it. LOL Jamin is helping them paint and repair the barn as the house is going on the market.
I guess I’m going to have to go buy organic at the big box stores this month. Ugh.
That’s that – my day so far. The kids are waiting for me to read Narnia to them. OH – Becky and her kidlets came over to escape the drilling at their house…so that was a bright spot in the strange day. LOL

Some shots from Praise Craze...no particular order....and there are 147 pictures...there were bands of all varieties....but here are a few of "our" bands.....

Our Gospel Band

Two from 180 - our Student band

Jamin - home safe and sound
Josiah - boys are not liking the heat down here!
Shades of Crimson
180 again...
Myself, Stacia and Verinis

PRAISE CRAZE!
The day at the lake turned into a very fun day. It began HOT. I mean REALLY hot! And not enjoyable at all….. somewhere in the middle of the day I took the little ones over to the pool They cooled off in the pool When we got back to the concert there was a cloud covering and a nice breeze. The bands were all very good. All in all it was a successful event. Mike and Kelly have already come up with several things they will do differently next year. However, something of this magnitude coming out of a chapel our size was a HUGE accomplishment. Kelly has been a blessing to our chapel program. There were 500 people there all told yesterday and I’m sure it will much bigger next year.
Church tonight was fun as always. It was sad that two of our lead singers are moving on. They’ve only been here since Feb – but this is the way of a student base. They are on their way to their “real careers” in the air force now that all their training is completed.
After church we headed over to Baker Street for a farewell fellowship. Debby and her family came along as well and the boys had fun catching up on the past two weeks and playing games. I had a gigantic “old fashioned ice cream soda” and will NOT do that again. I asked Debby to remind me in case I forget by next time.
