TAGGED

Annie tagged me quite a long time ago and I'm just getting around to posting....

Here are the rules.

1. Choose the 4th folder where you store pictures on your computer.
2. Select the 4th picture in the folder, and post it on your blog.
3. Explain the picture.
4. Tag four people to do the same.
5. No cheating (cropping, editing, etc.)

Since EACH folder on my computer has MULTIPLE contains multiple folders....this is what I came up with....

Jamin on our 2007 vacation to Cresent City, CA. Mike has a tradition to sleep on the beach across from his folks house with the kids.....yeah...I stay inside.... the horror stories they tell me after each sleepover confirm that I choose rightly. LOL I tag Cindy (Life is Good), Amy(Word from the Herd), Bobbie Jo (Just Me Bobbie Jo) and Jen in WA - (Whimsical Life). I won't link as I can't remember if you all like to be linked. LOL
An aside, I've started compiling a list of awards you've blessed me with and will try to read and follow rules shortly.

SLUG BUG, Zander!

I chose the header photo because it was taken just before we walked away from our home in Eagle River, Alaska. We did NOT realize how good Zander's memory is. He talks about the "stair home" and this creek nearly every day....and has for 4 years...EVERY day. ::snort:: He was 3 when we moved. Just before this shot was taken, we'd stood in a circle and remembered the good and the bad from our time in AK and released balloons.
Zander is SEVEN years old today! Wow, Zander. Your focused attention on the things that interest you amazes me. I love your stories. I'm trying to be a better listener. Thanks for giving me opportunity to practice.
You won't understand this now....but you have brought great challenge and great blessing to our lives.* You have provided great learning for Mom and Dad at a time when we thought we'd parented every personality type available.
I've learned that grace is always the best course, even when others don't "get it." You've taught me not to expect too much, nor too little...but to take each day's challenges as they arrive.
I've learned that Mommy's can face peer pressure and that mentoring a child's heart is ALWAYS more important than what other adults think of me.
I've learned to run to God when I'm perplexed and not sure how to best help you.
Zander, I'm excited to see you start to care for Stacia and watch out for her. I love the way you are starting to help out more around home.
I'm so very thankful to be your mom, Zander. I look forward to the lessons I will learn as I learn to be the best Mommy I can be to you. You are my favorite 7 year old in the world.
Happy Birthday, Zander.

Zander's impulses lead to great adventures

Hmmm....2 years old

A fascination with sea life must have begun at this moment

*And now a note to readers: Zander is our alphabet boy. I can't even remember all the alphabet dx....ADHD, OCD, ODD, SI, aspie to name a few...oh and we can never forget the impulse thing.

We discovered that diet is huge for Zander. When he eats SAD (Standard American Diet) he CAN'T learn, reason or respond to us. He retreats into himself or he bounces off the wall - often at the same time. He begins to do things like hitting his head against walls or twirling around in circles.....and when we take out preservatives, flavors, dyes etc....he's a lovable handful. Because of this little guy's challenges...we've all become healthier. That's a blessing.
Because Zander doesn't relate socially according to norm,we often have amazingly wonderful moments.....like the time the man stocking Walmart shelves asked him, "What are you going to be when you grow up?" and he replied, "Your boss." Or the time he lectured Coach A on the best way to win a basketball game. Or the time he decided to see what would happen if you spit from a balcony.....inside... These moments (except that last one) provide blessed moments of humor.
We're currently trying to help Zander learn impulse control and social appropriateness.
Zander is slowly learning how to read. He tends to go in cycles....one thing will be fascinating for months on end and then he'll move to the next. He's just begun showing a real fascination with printed words...so I think he'll learn to read next...

WINDSday

Wow! West TX has some amazing winds. The highlight of the day would have to be the 55+ mph winds tearing through the neighborhood this evening. There are fences down all around.

Health Update - Nolan and Zander are fine...just coughing. Jared was up and down, weak but breathing and no fever. Stacia is up but coughing and such. Arielle and Jamin got fevers yesterday.....now I'm praying that they don't RECYCLE this thing.

Other Exciting Tidbits:

  • Today was drama club.
  • I took our first HUGE load of stuff to Goodwill.
  • I bought lots of 10/$10 milk again. Gotta love a sale.
  • I finished our United co-op order.
  • We became the owners of a nordic track - free.

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Photobucket

Grandma lived in the Philippines when Josiah was born. Mom and Dad sent a telegram when he was born. Because of the time difference, Josiah was born on the 10th in the Philippines...and the 9th in the U.S.A. They sort of share the same birthday.

Grandma is always willing to play with us. We love her visits, wherever we are living. She explored Spanish missions with us. She rode on a dog sled with us at the Iditarod headquarters. She walked on glaciers with us. She let dad take her out geocaching even though there are snakes in TX. She even jumps on the trampoline with us, which Mom says is doing pretty good for someone in their 60's.

Grandma always takes us to Dairy Queen when she visits. In MT, TX or AK.

Happy Birthday, Grandma. Did Grandpa take you to Dairy Queen? We wish we were there to help you celebrate.

Sights from the Sick House

I may not have time to blog...but I continued to click away. Brief Update: Arielle is sick now. Jamin is also sick. The others are all on the mend.

Ah, checking for a birthday blog...
Photobucket

Anything becomes a competition with this many boys in the house.

Especially with a Princess to officiate.

Josiah discovered these balloons on his car as he left Sunday night. (The week before his car was tagged when he left our home. It's not US!)
Photobucket
On the mend but not quite well....
Photobucket
I spent some time Monday finishing up this gift for coach. (I'm not worrying about last names and such in this photo. In true man fashion none of them signed by their photo. ::snort::)
Photobucket
I also made a 12 x 12 layout of each player and had all the others sign it. I'll have to get a photo of Jared's later. Mike took lots of photos of the games. I made a photo disc for each player.

Jared was surprised to be asked to give the gift to coach....and said he "reverted to humor, it works for me." ::snort::
