There's a Wasp in my Shower!

He was as surprised as I to share our close a.m. quarters.

My typical method of dealing with surprising animals, screaming for a young man, was not going to work in this situation.

I was not about to let him keep zipping around me in my vulnerable state. I killed that wasp with a Mary K Timewise Cleanser bottle.

I feel empowered to face the day.

Random Japanese Trivia - Asamushi Aquarium

(浅虫水族館 Asamushi Suizokukan) also called Aquarium Asamushi is going to be "near" us.

We were able to print a brochure about it at Misawa Life. I tried to find a link to the Aquarium itself but all the links I find appear to be broken.

Check out this salt water aquarium....
We've been studying Zoology 2 - fish and such....and bemoaning the fact that there are no oceans near San Angelo. We'll not finish our text before we move....but we are planning some field trips to make the "book work" we've done come alive.

Taxes - bahumbug!

Really, this whole mess of a tax code needs to be fixed. It is simply unfair...says the mother of a minor who owes taxes! I'm all for a flat tax....straight across the board...get rid of all the loopholes....no refunds....no deductions....pay a flat tax on what you earned....get rid of hundreds of IRS jobs....

We're planning to attend a TEA party on the 15th.

A Delicious Recipe for Dumb Old Meat Loaf

3 lb Ground Beef (turkey)
1 Small Onion (chopped)
5 Slices of Bread, crumbled (cracker crumbs)
3 Eggs
1/4 C Bottled Horseradish (or Veganaise/mayo)
1 T Sea Salt
1 T. Mustard

Topping:
1 C Catsup
1/2 C Rapadura OR 1/4 C honey (packed brown sugar)
1 tsp Fresh Grated Nutmeg
4 tsp Mustard (heaping T)

Preheat oven to 350*.  Combine meatloaf ingredients, divide in half and shape into two loaves. Place on baking sheet, bake for 30 min. Add topping and bake an additional 30 min.

Random Japanese Trivia - Shinkansen

The French have a train that rivals the bullet train; but then we're not studying France. We are discussing options of traveling from Tokyo to Misawa. We could fly, or we could ride the "Bullet Train" from Tokyo to Hachinohe (where someone from the chapel would meet us and take us to Misawa). The train would require finding another way to send our luggage ahead...and a bit longer of a trip....but doesn't it sound like a great adventure? What do you think? Plane or train? We've been told the Air Force will pay for either...the train is cheaper so they don't care if we do it. ::Snort:: Most fly?????

The Shinkansen (新幹線 ?) is a network of high-speed railway lines in Japan.The network has expanded to link most major cities on the islands of Honshū and Kyūshū at speeds up to 300 km/h (186 mph). Test runs have reached 443 km/h (275 mph) for conventional rail in 1996, and up to a world-record 581 km/h (361 mph) for maglev trainsets in 2003.

Shinkansen uses tunnels and viaducts to go through and over obstacles rather than around them.

The Tōkaidō Shinkansen is the world's busiest high-speed rail line. Carrying 375,000 passengers a day.

This is assuring, " During the Shinkansen's 44-year, nearly 7 billion-passenger history, there have been no passenger fatalities due to derailments or collisions, despite frequent earthquakes and typhoons."

This is not, "Injuries and a single fatality have been caused by doors closing on passengers or their belongings...". ::snort::
